A copper-based sliding material comprising sintered copper or sintered copper alloy, and 0.1 to 5 vol. % hard substance particles harder in hardness than said copper or copper alloy, said hard substance particles being substantially evenly dispersed so that, when at least one, randomly selected surface portion or sectional portion of said sintered copper or sintered copper alloy is partitioned into squares each having a side of 20 &#x3bc;m, at least one particle exists in each of squares not less than 80% of the whole squares. The copper-based sliding material has good anti-seizure property and superior resistance to fatigue without containing any lead.

Sliding material made of copper alloy, method of producing same, sliding bearing material, and method of producing same

A copper-based sliding material produced by sintering, comprising at least two phases of copper and/or copper alloys which phases have hardness levels different form each other, and hard particles with an average particle size of 0.1 to 10 &mgr;m which are dispersed in at least one phase with the exception of a softest phase in an amount of 0.1 to 10 vol. % of the whole copper-based sliding material, said sliding material satisfying (H2/H1)&gE;1.2 in which H1 is the Vickers hardness of the softest phase and in which H2 is the Vickers hardness of a phase hardest in hardness including said hard particles.

Copper-based sliding material, method of manufacturing the same, and sliding bearing

Disclosed is a copper alloy sliding material having a metal structure wherein intermetallic compounds exist adjacently to Pb-phase islands and/or Bi-phase islands. Because intermetallic compounds exist between the matrix and the Pb phase and/or the Bi phase, the material can have improved anti-seizure property, since, under load or due to wear, the surface of the material has recessions at the soft Pb and/or Bi phase and the matrix with respect to the intermetallic compounds.

Copper alloy sliding material

An aluminum bearing alloy includes, by mass, 3 to 40% Sn, 0.5 to 7% Si, 0.05 to 2% Fe, balance of Al, and unavoidable impurities. In the alloy, a ternary-element intermetallic compound of Al&mdash;Si&mdash;Fe and Si particles are contained as hard particles.

Aluminum bearing alloy

Disclosed is a composite sliding material having a steel plate and a sintered copper alloy layer which is bonded to the steel plate. The copper alloy contains, 1.5 to 15 mass % Sn, 1.5 to 15 mass % Bi, 1.5 to 20 volume % of a solid lubricant, and balance of Cu and incidental impurities. The volume ratio of Bi to the solid lubricant is in a range of 0.5 to 2.0. Bi and the solid lubricant improves the copper alloy in sintering property, since Bi melts when sintering because of a low melting point resulting in improved sintering property, and the solid lubricant ensures good anti-seizure property, and deterioration of mechanical strength is prevented by virtue of a phenomenon that the solid lubricant is entrained in Bi.

Composite sliding material

A copper alloy sliding material which can bring about superior resistance to fatigue as well as good anti-seizure property without containing any Pb. The copper alloy sliding material is made to have the structure in which both of the hard copper alloy phase and the soft copper alloy phase coexist in a mixture state. On the surface of the sliding material, the soft copper alloy phase comes to have a shape more concave than that of the hard copper alloy phase when receiving a load or when being in a sliding wear relation, in which concave portions is retained lubricant with the result that the anti-seizure property is enhanced. Further, since the soft phase and the hard phase are made of the same copper alloy, the wettability thereof becomes good, and Ni and etc. contained in the hard copper alloy phase are diffused into the soft copper alloy phase, so that the hardness of the boundary portion defined between the phases come to be gradually varied. Thus, because of the unclear boundary, the load received in the hard phase comes to be spread in a wide range without being concentrated at the boundary, so that the fatigue strength is enhanced.

Sliding material made of copper alloy, method of producing same, and sliding bearing

In a continuous casting of a molten aluminum bearing alloy, a casting space is defined between substantially parallel opposed portions of a pair of traveling endless belts and the molten aluminum bearing alloy is supplied into the casting space to be continuously cast into the shape of a plate. A cooling rate AT during solidification of the aluminum bearing alloy is controlled so that the cooling rate &Dgr;T ranges between 3 and 6&deg; C./sec. where &Dgr;T&equals;(T&minus;500) /t, T is a temperature when the casting of the aluminum bearing alloy starts, and t is a cooling time in sec. between start of casting and the time when the temperature of the aluminum bearing alloy decreases to 500&deg; C.

Method and apparatus for continuous casting of aluminum bearing alloy

A method of making an aluminum alloy plate for bearing which is made by cladding a bonding layer comprising a pure aluminum or an aluminum alloy excluding Sn onto a bearing alloy layer comprising an aluminum alloy containing Sn. The method includes the steps of fitting a concave portion of a first roll in a convex portion of a second roll, the first roll having both axial ends with large diameter portions respectively, the second roll having both axial ends with small diameter portions respectively, and passing superposed plates formed into the bearing alloy layer and the bonding layer respectively through a roll gap defined between the concave and convex portions and closed by the large diameter portions of the first roll so that the plates are rolled down at a reduction ratio not less than 50% while both widthwise ends of each plate is restricted by the large diameter portions of the first roll respectively such that the bonding layer is cladded onto the bearing alloy layer.

Method of making aluminum alloy plate for bearing

Disclosed is a multi-layered plain bearing which comprises a steel back, an intermediate layer made of an aluminum alloy and an aluminum-base bearing alloy layer comprising one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Cu, Zn, Mg and Si. The aluminum-base bearing alloy layer is bonded to the steel back via the intermediate layer and subsequently subjected to a solid solution treatment at a temperature of not lower than 400&deg; C. The adjacent region of the intermediate layer to the steel back consists of, by mass, 2% to 8% of Si, and the balance of Al and incidental impurities.

Multi-layered plain bearing and producing method thereof

There is disclosed a sliding member which slidably contacts an counterpart member with friction and in which a friction force is varied without changing a contact pressure. A sliding member is formed by covering a steel plate with sliding materials to different in friction coefficient. In this case, when a sliding direction of the counterpart member is set to directions of arrows A and B, a sliding material of a low friction coefficient is disposed in the middle, and the sliding materials to are arranged so that the friction coefficient gradually increases toward both terminal sides in the directions of arrows A and B of the sliding material . According to the sliding member , the friction force increases as the counterpart member moves in the directions of arrows A and B from the middle.

Sliding member

Disclosed is a copper alloy sliding material comprising 0.5 to 15 mass % Sn and 0.1 to 10 vol % of hard particles consisting of one or more selected from WC, W C and Mo C. The hard particles have preferably an average particle size of 0.1 to 10 &mgr;m, whereby they are dispersed in the copper alloy matrix so as to make the sliding-contact surface uneven, from which the hard particles protrude partially. The sliding material comprises an amount or a total amount of not more than 40 mass % of one or more selected from Ni, Ag, Fe, Al, Zn, Mn, Co, Si and P, an amount or a total amount of not more than 10 mass % of Bi and/or Pb, and/or an amount or a total amount of not more than 10 vol % of a solid lubricant comprising BN, graphite, MoS and/or WS .

In a sliding bearing in which a bearing metal layer is covered with a coating layer, the coating layer comprises a thermosetting resin as a base resin and soft metal particles dispersed in the base resin in an amount of 0.1 to 10% by volume based on the volume of the coating layer. The soft metal is harder than the base resin and has a higher thermal conductivity than the base resin, so that the wear resistance and anti-seizure property of the sliding bearing are improved. In particular, when the soft metal particles are of copper, silver, tin, zinc or the like, the soft metal particles react with the sulfur contained in a lubricating oil to form a thin metal sulfide film excellent in lubricity on the surface of the particles, whereby the coefficient of friction is made smaller.

Sliding bearing

Disclosed is a sliding bearing in which a heat emission property of the sliding bearing is improved without affecting the original function of an overlay layer. An overlay layer is formed on a higher load-side bearing half, and extends circumferentially from a central portion thereof toward each of opposite ends thereof. Any overlay layer is not formed on a lower load-side bearing half, so that a bearing alloy remains exposed to the surface of this bearing half.

A roller supporting device which comprises a pair of supporting arms, a supporting shaft attached between the pair of supporting arms in a non-rotatable manner, and a roller having an inner hole in the central part thereof, the roller being disposed between the pair of supporting arms and being supported in a rotatable manner by the supporting shaft inserted through the inner hole, the roller being arranged to rotate along with the relative movement with a mating member by making the roller contact with the mating member, wherein a cut out portion, which extends in the axial direction on the outer circumferential surface of the supporting shaft, is formed at an appropriate portion except the portion on which the inner circumferential surface of the inner hole of the roller is pressed due to the load applied to the roller from the mating member, thereby defining an oil passage which extends in the axial direction between the supporting shaft and the inner circumferential surface of the inner hole of the roller.

Roller supporting device

There is disclosed a half thrust bearing of a substantially semi-circular shape. A thrust relieve 22, slanting toward a confronting end of the half thrust bearing progressively away from a bearing surface of a half thrust bearing, is formed at each of circumferentially-spaced opposite end portions of the bearing surface by pressing (cold forging), so that those portions of the bearing surface, disposed adjacent respectively to the thrust relieves 22, are higher in strength than the other portions of the bearing surface. With this construction, even if a thrust collar of a crankshaft abuts against localized portions of the bearing surface disposed adjacent to the thrust relieves 22, a bearing alloy will not subjected to premature fatigue and separation.
