An image display medium () has a structure, where a film body () having a number of fine film pieces () provided corresponding to display pixels is held between a supporting member () and a covering member (). The supporting member () is provided a number of movable spaces () provided to individually move the fine film pieces () of the film body (). Further, on the film body (), selective switching is made between a state where each fine film piece () is adsorbed and held on the covering member () to shut out a light, and a state where each fine film piece () is adsorbed and held on a spacing wall () of the supporting member () to transmit a light, so that an image is displayed.

In forming a color image, a covering device is placed upon a color area having a plurality of colors regularly arranged. The color area is light reflective and s formed of stripes. The covering device is formed of strips whose phase substantially matches the stripes of the color area and printed on the color area. A color is presented by a color mixture of colors not covered by the covering device in the color area, wherein the color mixture is a subtractive color mixture.

An image forming apparatus is used for forming a print image on a color image forming sheet on which a plurality of units is formed in a regular pattern. Each unit is formed of plural color areas for showing one color portion. The image forming apparatus includes a storing device for storing image plotting data showing color-plotted images; a control device for translating the image plotting data into print image data including plural groups of digits corresponding to the color areas in one unit; a detecting device for detecting a position of the color image forming sheet on the image forming apparatus and outputting a detection signal upon detection of the position; and a recording device for selectively covering the plural color areas on the color image forming sheet according to the print image data and the detection signal from the detecting means. Thus, the color-plotted image is produced on the color image forming sheet.

In a stencil printing machine, one surface of a stencil sheet with a perforated image is placed in contact with an upper surface of a printing material. Ink is provided on the other surface of the stencil sheet. Suction force is exerted on a bottom surface of the printing material, so that the ink is allowed to pass through the perforated image and then transfer to the upper surface of the printing material, thereby completing stencil printing.

In a stencil printing method, an image on a printing material is formed by forcing ink to pass through perforations formed in a stencil sheet and to transfer onto the printing material. The method includes preparing ink transfer device having a surface made of an elastically deformable material; applying ink on the surface of the ink transfer device; and pressing the surface of the ink transfer device against the stencil sheet. Thus, a part of the ink transfer device having the ink deforms to enter into the perforations, thereby transferring the ink onto the printing material through the perforations of the stencil sheet to conduct printing on the printing material.
