A recording apparatus for recording on a recording sheet by a recording head includes a conveying roller for conveying the recording sheet, a pinch roller in contact with the conveying roller to rotate following the conveying roller, and a sheet pressure member pivotable on the rotational shaft of the pinch roller. The sheet pressure member prevents the recording sheet from floating, hence making it possible to prevent the recording sheet from interfering with the recording head for the prevention of the disturbance that may be given to recording and damage to the recording head.

Printing apparatus which prevents floating of a recording sheet

A recording device includes a guide protruding from and retracting toward a platen and a discharge support protruding from and retracting toward the guide. With this arrangement, the process for fabricating the parts of the device is not complicated, a large space for the discharge support is not needed, and a required flatness of the upper surface of the platen is easily obtained even when the device includes the discharge support.

Image forming device

An image forming apparatus forms an image on a recording medium by discharging ink from a recording head. The apparatus has ejection rollers for causing the recording medium to move at a position downstream of the recording head as viewed in the direction of movement of the recording medium. The apparatus also has idle rollers driven by the ejection rollers. The apparatus further has recording medium supporting members disposed downstream of the ejection rollers and arranged to guide the recording medium. The recording medium supporting members and the idle rollers are located on common straight lines which extend in the direction of movement of the recording medium. This arrangement obviates undesirable lifting of the recording medium and prevents rubbing of the recording medium on the recording head.

Image forming apparatus

An ink jet printing apparatus is provided which can prevent a discharged paper-induced smear efficiently with a simple construction. To achieve this objective, the ink jet printing apparatus of this invention determines, based on an amount of ink ejected per unit area onto a preceding print medium last discharged to the discharge position by the discharging section, a required time duration that needs to elapse before a subsequent print medium being discharged toward the discharge position is allowed to contact a predetermined area of the preceding print medium and then controls a printing speed on the subsequent print medium so that the subsequent print medium will not contact the predetermined area of the preceding print medium within the time duration determined.

Ink jet printing apparatus and ink jet printing method

A printing apparatus includes transporting belt transporting a printing sheet in a flat surface region opposing to respective ejection openings of printing heads, suction force generating means for generating an electrostatic suction force on a transporting surface of the belt and control means for controlling to generate the suction force only in a region opposing to the head. An ink jet recording method forms an ink jet image on a recording medium by serially moving an ink jet recording head having a plurality of ink discharge ports arranged in an array along a conveyance direction of the recording medium. The method includes the step of providing a platen having a planar section upstream in the conveyance direction and a slant section slanted downstream in the conveyance direction and in a direction parting from the ink discharge ports, opposed to an array of the ink discharge ports when the ink jet recording head serially moves. The method further includes the step of forming an ink jet image on the recording medium by ink discharge from the ink discharge ports when the ink jet recording head moves at least three times across a same area of the recording medium, a reverse side of which is supported by the platen.

Ink jet recording apparatus

An ink jet printing member mounted on a scanning carriage to discharge ink for recording while traveling with the carriage includes an extrusion that engages with a hook of the scanning carriage when this member is mounted on the carriage. This extrusion is arranged to dually function to identify the kind of the mounted ink jet printing member in accordance with the location of the extrusion and to secure the printing member on the carriage. With this arrangement, the structure is simplified to reduce the manufacturing costs significantly, while preventing the user from erroneously mounting an ink jet recording member on the carriage for an intended recording.

An ink jet recording apparatus having an image recording area for performing image recording onto a recording medium includes a head holding portion for holding an ink jet recording head, a platen, and a recording medium exhausting device. The platen has planar and facial sections. The planar section supports the recording medium opposed to the ink discharge ports in the image recording area. The facial section is disposed downstream of the image recording area with respect to a conveyance direction of the recording medium, and extends in a direction away from the ink discharge ports toward the conveyance direction. The planar section and the facial section are continuous, and the angle between the extension of the planar section and the facial section is from 3.7 to 7.5 degrees. The recording medium exhausting device, disposed downstream of the facial section of the platen in the conveyance direction, exhausts the recording medium from the recording area by guiding the recording medium from the extension of the planar section of the platen in a direction closer to the facial section of the platen.
