A terminal structure of a coil device includes a coil having a rectangular conductive wire covered with a dielectric film, and a terminal having a fusing part. An end portion of the wire from the coil has first and second flat surfaces, and the fusing part is electrically connected to these flat surfaces by fusing. The fusing part includes a planar portion surface-contacting a first flat surface, and a folded piece folded in a direction perpendicular to a plane of the planar portion. The end portion is clamped between the planar portion and the folded piece. The folded piece includes a contact surface portion contacting a second flat surface. The contact surface portion includes a stepped portion that increases a deformation amount of a contact area of the second flat surface contacting the stepped portion, compared to an adjacent area of the second flat surface adjacent to the contact area.

Terminal structure of coil device

A cylinder of an internal combustion engine is communicated with intake ports. Each of intake valves and each of fuel injection valves are provided to a corresponding one of the intake ports to inject fuel into a combustion chamber through a curved portion and an opening of the corresponding intake port. An injection axis of each fuel injection valve intersects with a surface of the corresponding intake valve placed in a close position at an intersecting point that is located on an upstream side of a central axis of the corresponding intake valve.

Internal combustion engine

A solenoid apparatus includes a fixed core, a coil, and a movable core. The coil generates magnetic attractive force when the coil is supplied with electricity. The movable core is attracted to the fixed core by the magnetic attractive force generated between the fixed core and the movable core when the coil is supplied with electricity. The fixed core has a fixed axial end on a side of the movable core. The movable core has a movable axial end on a side of the fixed core. At least one of the fixed axial end and the movable axial end has at least one recession. The at least one of the fixed axial end and the movable axial end, which has the at least one recession, has an outer circumferential periphery and an inner circumferential periphery. The outer circumferential periphery radially communicates with the inner circumferential periphery through the at least one recession.

Solenoid apparatus and injection valve using the same

A tubular member is arranged radially inward of a coil to cover outer peripheral parts of a movable core and of a stationary core. The stationary core has a tapered portion in an opposing portion, which is opposed to the movable core. The stationary core also has a large diameter portion on a counter movable core side of the tapered portion. An outer diameter of the tapered portion is increased from an opposing end surface side part toward the large diameter portion. The outer diameter of the opposing end surface of the opposing portion, which is opposed to the movable core, is generally the same as an outer diameter of the movable core. An outer diameter of the large diameter portion of the stationary-core is larger than the outer diameter of the movable core.

Fuel injection valve having stationary core and movable core

A pipe member of a fuel injection valve includes a magnetic pipe and a non-magnetic pipe in this order from the side of a jet nozzle plate. The non-magnetic pipe extends to the end of the fuel injection valveopposed to the jet nozzle plate, and the non-magnetic pipe is formed with a fuel inlet. The non-magnetic pipe has the thickness of not less than 0.2 mm but not more than 1.0 mm. An end of the non-magnetic pipe on the side of the magnetic pipe is positioned on the side of a moving core relative to a facing portion of a fixed core that faces to the moving core, and on the side of the fixed core relative to a second end of a yoke connected to the magnetic pipe. The non-magnetic pipe covers the outer periphery of a gap defined between the moving core and the fixed core.

Fuel injection valve having internal pipe

An injection device satisfies the following conditions: 5 mm&lE;La&lE;10 mm, 0 mm&lE;Lb&lE;1.0 mm, Lb&lE;Lc, and 0.5&lE;Ld/La &lE;1.5, wherein La is a length of a coil, Lb is a distance between a downstream end surface of the coil and a downstream end surface of a non-magnetic portion, Lc is a distance between the end surface of the coil and a downstream end surface of a stationary core (or stationary portion), Ld is a length of the non-magnetic portion. The device also satisfies the following conditions: 0.2&lE;Sb/Sa&lE;0.9, and 0.1&lE;(Lf&plus;Lc)/La&lE;1.0, wherein Sa is a cross-sectional area of a main portion, Sb is a cross-sectional area of a reduced size portion, Lf is a length of the reduced size portion.

Electromagnetic fuel injection device for internal combustion engine

In a fuel injection valve in which an outer frame member is press fitted to a limited region of an outer circumference of an inner pipe member in a state that a drive coil is radially sandwiched therebetween, a valve lift amount is accurately adjusted by press fitting the attracting member to the inner pipe member without being adversely affected by a possible deformation of the inner circumference of the inner pipe member on press fitting the outer frame member to the inner pipe member due to a relief space provided in the inner circumference of the inner pipe member for preventing the outer circumference of the attracting member from contacting the inner circumference of the inner pipe member at least at a position just radially inside and axially corresponding to the limited region.

Fuel injection valve

A structure and method for enabling a passive vehicle occupant restraint to be activated at the earliest possible timing, irrespective of a type of a collision. A floor sensor measures a deceleration G applied to the length of a vehicle and outputs the deceleration as the measurement G. An arithmetic unit carries out a predetermined arithmetic operation on the measurement G output from the floor sensor, so as to determine a function f(G). A conditional activation unit has a variation pattern of a threshold value T that varies with a variation in velocity v of a non-stationary object. The conditional activation unit reads a threshold value T corresponding to an input velocity v from the variation pattern and compares the threshold value T with the value of the function f(G). In case that the value of the function f(G) exceeds the threshold value T, an activation signal A is input to a driving circuit. A satellite sensor outputs an ON signal when a deceleration of not less than a predetermined reference value is applied to the vehicle. A threshold variation pattern selection unit changes the variation pattern of the threshold value T against the velocity v used in the conditional activation unit to another variation pattern, in response to the ON signal output from the satellite sensor.

Activation control apparatus for passive vehicle occupant restraint and method of controlling activation of passive vehicle occupant restraint

A floor sensor,measures a deceleration G applied to the length of a vehicle and outputs the deceleration as the measurement G. An arithmetic unit,carries out a predetermined arithmetic operation on the measurement G output from the floor sensor,, so as to determine a function f(G). A conditional activation unit,has a variation pattern of a threshold value T that varies with a variation in velocity v of a non-stationary object. The conditional activation unit,reads a threshold value T corresponding to an input velocity v from the variation pattern and compares the threshold value T with the value of the function f(G). In case that the value of the function f(G) exceeds the threshold value T, an activation signal A is input to a driving circuit,. A satellite sensor 30 outputs an ON signal when a deceleration of not less than a predetermined reference value is applied to the vehicle. A threshold variation pattern changing unit,changes the variation pattern of the threshold value T against the velocity v used in the conditional activation unit,to another variation pattern, in response to the ON signal output from the satellite sensor,. This structure of the present invention enables a passive vehicle occupant restraint to be activated at the earliest possible timing, irrespective of a type of a collision, in which the vehicle crashes.

In a vehicular air bag system, a diagnostic apparatus for testing a squib line is provided which has: a first diagnostic resistor R1 one end of which is connected to a terminal D+ of a squib; a first diagnostic switching means Q1 for connecting the other end of the R1 to an ignition voltage VDC; a second diagnostic resistor R3 one end of which is connected to the terminal D+ of the squib; a second diagnostic switching means Q2 for connecting the other end of the R3 to ground; and a CPU. The CPU measures the potentials VD+ and VD- at the squib, by switching the first and second diagnostic switching means Q1 and Q2 on and off in an appropriate manner, and calculates the values of various prescribed diagnostic parameters on the basis of the value of VDC and the values of the VD+ and VD-. Then, the values of the diagnostic parameters are compared with various prescribed evaluation threshold values to determine the source of a failure.

Diagnostic apparatus for squib line system in vehicular air bag system

An electrical control apparatus for the air bag system capable of inhibiting the diagnosis of back-up capacitors when a diagnosing routine is initiated by an extraneous noise. In a main routine executed by a microcomputer provided in an electrical control apparatus for an air-bag system, data stored in a specific address of a volatile memory is read out, and it is determined whether or not its value is the same as a fixed value. If the result is affirmative, it is determined that the main routine is started by an extraneous noise, an ignition flag IG is reset, and the diagnosis of the back-up capacitors is inhibited. On the other hand, if the data does not have the same value as the fixed value, it is determined that the ignition switch is turned on again after it has been turned off, the IG is set, and the diagnosis for back-up capacitors is carried out.

Electronic control apparatus for an air-bag system

An apparatus (30) for controlling an actuatable restraining device includes an accelerometer (60) for providing an electrical deceleration signal having a characteristic indicative of vehicle deceleration. An electronic controller (64) is connected to the accelerometer (60) and determines an average crash acceleration (AWIN) value in response to deceleration during a vehicle crash condition. The controller (64) determines a crash velocity value and a variably weighted velocity value (JMM2) equal to crash velocity times a variable weighting factor. The controller (64) provides an actuation signal to actuate the actuatable restraining device (i) when the average velocity value (AWIN) is greater than a first threshold value (WTHRESH) or (ii) when the variably weighted velocity value (JMM2) is greater than a second threshold value (JTHRESH) and the crash velocity is greater than a third threshold value (VTHRESH).

Method and apparatus for controlling an actuatable restraining device

A dielectric detecting device includes an earth electrode and a sensor electrode opposed to the earth electrode which constitute a capacitor whose capacitance is varied with an existence of a dielectric object therebetween. A detecting device is provided for detecting a change in the capacitance of the capacitor and a capacitance of a circuit in the dielectric detecting device. The detecting device includes an input signal processing device disposed between an output side of the detecting device and an input side of the sensor electrode, a switching device disposed between the input signal processing device and the sensor electrode, and a judging device for judging whether the dielectric object exists or not on the basis of an output of the detecting device and judging whether an error has occurred at one or more of the earth electrode, the sensor electrode, the detecting device and input signal processing device on the basis of capacitances when the switching device is in its on and off conditions.
