A printing system according to the present invention includes a media terminal box which may be installed on a street. In the box, there are disposed a measuring device that measures the temperature or humidity in the box, a device such as a CPU, and a storage device. The storage device stores correction data including a correction value based on a combination of the temperature and humidity, and history data relating to the temperature and humidity measured by the measuring device. The control device corrects a color tone of image data which is read out from the storage device based on the temperature/humidity history data and the correction data so as to generate corrected image data. The corrected image data is sent to a printer, and then the printer is operated based on the corrected image data.

The present invention is directed to the provision of a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet which, even when used with various printers, can be carried with improved accuracy, can form color images without misregistration, and does not permit traces of spikes to reach an image-receiving face and, thus, can minimize the influence of spikes on the quality of images. In a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet comprising a colorant-receptive layer provided on a substrate , the substrate is formed of a laminate comprising a plastic film having in its inside microvoids, a support , and a backside film provided in that order from the colorant-receptive layer side and the backside film is an unstretched polyolefin film. By virtue of this construction, a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet can be realized which, even when used with printers, can be carried with improved accuracy, can form color images without misregistration, and does not permit traces of spikes to reach an image-receiving face and, thus, can minimize the influence of spikes on the quality of images.

The present invention provides a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet comprises (1) an adhesive sheet portion 1 comprising a support 2, a dye receptor layer 3 disposed on a front surface of the support and an adhesive layer 4 disposed on a back surface of the support and (2) a release sheet 5 temporarily bonded to the adhesive layer so as to be peelable therefrom. The support 2 is a layered product comprising a foamed resin film layer 6 disposed on a dye receptor layer side thereof and a non-foamed resin film layer 7 disposed on an adhesive layer side thereof. In the adhesive sheet portion 1, it is preferable to form a cut line 9 which is provided with at least one uncut portion.

A thermal transfer image-receiving sheet for a sticker comprises a sticker portion and a release sheet portion, the sticker portion being comprising a substrate, a receptor layer disposed on a front surface side of the substrate and an adhesive layer disposed on a back surface side of the substrate, the release sheet portion being comprising a support sheet and a grip layer disposed on a back surface side of the support sheet, and an adhesive area of a back surface of the sticker portion being covered with the release sheet in a peelable adhesion with a front surface of the release sheet portion facing to the back surface of the sticker portion, wherein said grip layer is a non-oriented synthetic resin layer having a softening point of 110.degree. A thermal transfer image receiving sheet is provided which causes none of offset of an antistatic agent, transfer of the antistatic agent onto a carrier roll of a thermal transfer printer, a lowering in whiteness of the thermal transfer image receiving sheet, and a remarkable lowering in coating strength under high humidity environment and possesses excellent and stable antistatic properties. The thermal transfer image receiving sheet comprises: a substrate sheet; a dye-receptive layer provided on at least one side of the substrate sheet; and a conductive layer as at least one layer provided between the substrate sheet and the receptive layer or as at least one layer provided on the substrate sheet in its side remote from the receptive layer. The conductive layer contains a conductive needle crystal. By virtue of the above constitution, the conductive layer possesses excellent adhesion to the substrate sheet and other layers and has high whiteness, and the thermal transfer image receiving sheet causes no change in properties, such as coating strength and the like, with environmental variations and possesses excellent antistatic properties.

In a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet comprising at least a colorant-receptive layer and a laminated substrate layer, particularly including a plastic sheet, provision of at least one antistatic layer in the substrate layer can offer high antistatic effect both before and after printing of an image.

A thermal transfer image-receiving sheet having a substrate composed of paper or a paper-containing laminate is free from surface undulations or irregularities extending over several millimeters or more related to appearance and quality, has excellent printability, and gives high smoothness and a quality appearance. Concretely, a substrate 1 is composed of paper with an average area per flock of 6 mm.sup.2 or less, and a coloring material receptive layer 2 is formed on the substrate to constitute a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet 10. A roll-type heat transfer image-receiving sheet comprising a wind-up cylinder and a heat transfer image-receiving sheet which comprises at least a substrate and a coloring material-receiving layer provided thereon, the heat transfer image-receiving sheet being wound around the wind-up cylinder, wherein the maximum surface roughness of the wind-up cylinder in the longitudinal direction thereof is controlled to 40 micrometers or less; the wind-up cylinder is prepared by using pulp as a main component, and a cushioning material is provided between the wind-up cylinder and the heat transfer image-receiving sheet; a lead sheet is provided to the leading end of the heat transfer image-receiving sheet so that the image-receiving sheet can be easily led through a printer; and the heat transfer image-receiving sheet is wound around the wind-up cylinder with the coloring material-receiving sheet outside so that curl will not remain in the image-receiving sheet and that curl will not be developed during a printing process. An image free frost unevenness of density and voids can be produced on the image-receiving sheet without being affected by the roughness or difference in level present on the surface of the wind-up cylinder. The image-receiving sheet has stable transfer printing properties, and, in the roil of the image-receiving sheet, even a portion near the wind-up cylinder can be used and is not wasted.
