An ink-jet line printer () is constituted by multiple ink-jet heads (-to-). Actuators (-to-) are arranged so as to be moved between a home position and a print position, and backup mechanisms (-to-) are arranged at home positions. In this ink-jet line printer, the ink-jet heads can be protected and recovered by backup mechanisms, thus making high-speed continuous printing possible. Even though the backup mechanisms are incorporated, a compact apparatus can still be achieved.

Ink-jet line printer and image forming apparatus using the same

A heat roller having a cylindrical sheet-like heating element having a resistance member embedded in an insulating member. The sheet-like heating element is arranged between an inner tube and an outer tube. The outer tube is formed so as to be longer than the inner tube for reducing non-uniformity in heat of the heat roller. Further, a thermal expansion coefficient of a material of the outer tube is greater than that of a material of the inner tube. Moreover, a triple-tube heat roller is provided.

A heat plate for fixation includes: a metallic base plate; and a heating resistor arranged on a reverse face of the metallic base plate, the heating resistor being formed by laminating, at least, an electric insulating layer and heating resistor layer in this order on the metallic base plate, wherein the heat plate is capable of raising the temperature of the metallic base plate to a fixing temperature when the heating resistor layer is energized and heated. A semicircular heating member for fixation includes the heat plate which is curved so that the metallic base plate has a convex surface, a belt type fixing device is provided with the semicircular heating member, and an electrophotographic image forming apparatus is provided with the belt type fixing device having the semicircular heating member.

Heat plate, heating element, belt type fixing device and image forming apparatus

A heat roller having a cylindrical sheet-like heating element having a resistance member embedded into an insulating member. The sheet-like heating element is arranged between an inner tube and an outer tube. The resistance member is formed such that a heating density of the sheet-like heating element is changed in an axial direction of the heat roller. The heating density of the sheet-like heating element at its edge section is greater than that at a center in the axial direction of the heat roller.

A heat roller has a cylindrical sheet-like heating element, an inner tube and an outer tube. The sheet-like heating element has a resistance member embedded into an insulating member. The outer tube has a non-linear shape seen in an axial direction. The heat roller is fabricated by supplying pressurized fluid to the inner tube for expanding the inner tube, sheet-like heating element and outer tube toward a die. The die has a non-linear inner shape seen in the axial direction. Therefore, the outer tube of the fabricated heat roller has a non-linear shape. Further, an edge section of the inner tube can simultaneously be formed into a desired shape.

Heat roller and method of fabricating the same

An ink-jet head includes a head portion having a plurality of head segments and an ink feeding portion, where ink is supplied such that pipes each have one end connected to the head portion and the other end connected to one of ink feeding paths of the ink feeding portion. The pipes are held by elastic ring-shaped members that are further sidewise held by rigid ring-shaped members and vertically sandwiched between the ink feeding paths and an upper end portion of the head portion.
