An energy storage module according to an aspect of the present invention includes: a plurality of energy storage devices each including a case; a glass paper sheet provided between the energy storage devices, brought into contact with the case, and mainly composed of a glass fiber; and a holding member holding the plurality of energy storage devices and the glass paper sheet, wherein the glass paper sheet is compressed between the energy storage devices.

The method also includes electrically connecting the first communicating unit of the assembled battery to a second communicating unit of the charging circuit, charging the assembled battery through the two external terminals using a quasi-constant voltage charging procedure, and reducing a charging current toward a late stage during the charging of the assembled battery.

A charging method to charge a lithium ion battery in a short amount of time at low cost without degradation of the lithium ion battery is provided. A lithium ion battery includes a lithium compound containing iron as a positive electrode active material. The lithium ion battery is charged through a quasi-constant voltage charging procedure. The lithium ion battery includes a lithium compound as a positive electrode active material used for a positive electrode material. With the lithium compound, a voltage in a flat voltage section of a charging characteristic curve is higher than a voltage of a battery including the lithium compound containing iron as the positive electrode active material. The lithium ion battery may be an assembled battery including a plurality of electric cells connected in series.

An assembled battery device comprising a plurality of single cells which are placed with a predetermined space between each of them and an element for detecting swelling is set in the predetermined space between the single cells and operates in accordance with the transformation of the single cells by swelling. Therefore, when a single cell swells and transforms, resulting from being overcharged, the element for detecting swelling is activated in accordance with such transformation and detects the state of overcharging.

The invention provides a battery holder consisting of one plate-like support member and another support member. A plurality of battery holes of a predetermined depth into which sealed portions of a positive or negative side of sealed-type batteries that are clamped at one side by the support member are to be respectively fitted are formed in one face of the support member, so that one row of the battery holes is a row for positive terminals and another row of the battery holes is a row for negative terminals. A terminal hole is formed in a bottom face of each of the battery holes. A groove is formed between adjacent paired positive-terminal and negative-terminal holes among the terminal holes disposed in the bottom faces of the battery holes of the rows. The paired positive-terminal and negative-terminal holes are communicated with each other through the groove. Vent holes are opened at appropriate places among the battery holes. In each of the one and other rows of the other support member, only the battery hole for a positive terminal or a negative terminal is formed at each of opposite end portions.
