A sheet post-processing apparatus includes a plurality of bin trays arranged in multiple levels with predetermined intervals; stacking device supported in said apparatus so as to be moved in an arrangement direction of the plurality of bins; discharging device for discharging a sheet; and transferring device for transferring the sheet to said stacking device from the bin tray having completed sheet reception.

An image processing system of the invention has a reader which reads out an image of an original, a page memory which stores image information of the original in the form of electric signals, a disk memory which stores part or all of the image information in the disk memory and also stores image processing information, an image processing section, a digitizer for the operator to input the image processing information, a CRT which displays input information or corrections in convesation language, a DMA controller, and a printer. The image processing system of the invention is capable of DMA transfer without the intermediacy of a CPU. Fewer addresses are required for readout of the image information from the memory, and high speed image processing is achieved.

A sheet processing device which is mounted on an image forming apparatus having a both-side copy mode of forming an image on each side of a sheet member, including a bin module provided with a plurality of bins for accepting sheet members exhausted from the image forming apparatus, and a processor for taking out sheet members exhausted from the bin and processing the sheet members. An input protection device comprises a current limiting resistor externally connected to an integrated circuit which includes two Zener diodes, one functioning as a power supply Zener diode and the other functioning as a ground Zener diode. Owing to the resistance of the current limiting resistor and junction capacitances of the Zener diodes, electromagnetic interference noise is effectively damped or attenuated.

In a current detector circuit wherein the sense current flowing through a sense transistor for sensing part of the main current flowing through a main element transistor is flowed through the detection resistor to cause the bipolar or MOS control transistor to detect the voltage drop across the detection resistor, a compensation diode connected to the base or gate of the control transistor and the emitter of the sense transistor and a forward bias generation resistor element for generating a forward bias applied to the diode for a time interval during which the main current flows are arranged. When a sense current flowing through a sense element for sensing part of a main current flowing through a main element is to be flowed through a detection resistor to cause a control transistor to detect a voltage drop across through the detection resistor, the temperature dependence of a threshold voltage between the base and emitter of the control transistor is compensated for, and an output current is detected with an almost constant current level during an operation.

A sheet post-processing apparatus, capable of being coupled with a sheet discharging portion of an image forming apparatus includes a tray for stacking sheets discharged from the image forming apparatus; stapler for stapling the stacked sheets; stapling mode selector; a controller for operating the stapler when sheet discharge of the image forming apparatus is completed, and a stapling mode is selected by the stapling mode selector. The stapling apparatus contains a manually operable stapling mode selecting switch to place the stapler in a ready state, waiting for a copy completion signal before the stapling opperation begins.

A sheet sorter with includes a bin unit including a plurality of bins for accommodating sorted sheets, sheet stacker for accommodating non-sorted sheets, sheet switcher for selectively guiding the sheets to the plural bins or to the sheet stacker, stapler for stapling the sheets accommodated in the bins, for each of the bins, and controller for controlling the sheet switcher to direct the sheet to the bins in response to instructions for sorting and stapling the sheets, to direct the sheet to the sheet stacker in response to instructions for accommodating the sheets without sorting, and to direct the sheets to the bin unit in response to instructions for stapling the sheets without sorting. The apparatus further includes a reciprocating aligning member which is driven to an alignment position during movement of the bins and is again driven to the alignment position to complete the aligning operation after completion of the movement of the bins.

A sheet sorting apparatus with a stapler includes a plurality of bin trays which are arranged substantially vertically with predetermined clearances between adjacent bin trays, which are inclined to provide an inclined sheet receiving surfaces and which are independently movable substantially in the vertical direction, wherein the bin trays are so disposed that those ends of adjacent ones of the bin trays which are closer to the sheet inlet are deviated when seen in a direction substantially perpendicular to the sheet receiving surface; bin tray shifting device for moving the plurality of the bin trays stepwisely substantially in the vertical direction to oppose the respective bin trays to a sheet inlet of the sorting apparatus; stapling device, disposed substantially on an extension of the inclined sheet receiving surface and having a stapling head movable to above the sheet receiving surface and an anvil movable to below the sheet receiving surface, for stapling the sheets interposed between the stapling head and the anvil; and a second shifting device for shifting the bin tray immediately above the bin tray opposed to the stapling device in a direction increasing the deviation, wherein the stapling head is moved using a space provided by the deviation, and wherein the expanded clearance is smaller than a height of the stapling head.

A sheet binding apparatus includes a support for supporting a set of sheets; a puncher for punching the sets of sheets on the support; binder for binding the sheets by penetrating a ring member through punched holes of the sheets punched by the puncher; a detector for detecting a size of the ring member supported on the binder; a changing device for changing a degree of opening of the ring member in accordance with a size of the ring member; a conveyer for conveying the set of sheets punched by the puncher to the ring member supported on the binder; a second support for supporting the binder for movement between an automatic mode position wherein the binder receives the set of sheets conveyed by the conveyer and a manual mode position wherein the set of sheets can be received without use of the conveyer; a second detector for detecting the manual mode position of the binder and for prohibiting conveyance of the sheets by the conveyer; ring controller for controlling the degree of opening of the ring member during the manual mode; wherein the ring controller opens the ring member to the degree of opening predetermined in accordance with the size of the ring member.
