A catalyst comprising a carrier and a metals component impregnated in the carrier, the carrier comprising alumina; and the metals component comprising a first metals fraction and a second metals fraction, the first metals fraction comprising at least one metal selected from chromium, molybdenum, or tungsten, and the second metals fraction comprising at least two metals selected from cobalt, rhodium, iridium, nickel, palladium, or platinum, wherein the catalyst has a first pore volume of 0.28 to 0.45 mL/g for pores having a pore diameter of 12 nm to less than 16 nm, and a second pore volume of 0.15 to 0.28 mL/g for pores of 2.0 nm to less than 12.0 nm.

Hydroprocessing catalyst for the reduction of metals and sulfur in heavy feeds

An IC tag reading device is provided that has increased directivity and is capable of determining an accurate position of an IC tag inserted into and placed in a human body even when the operation range of the antenna of the reading device is limited, such as in thoracoscopy, without causing reduction in detectable distance. A reading device antenna for reading an IC tag that has been inserted into a human body and placed at a certain position in order to locate a lesion includes a coil portion having a coil with a predetermined number of turns in a circumferential direction, and a shield portion that covers at least an approximately half of the coil portion in the circumferential direction and causes a bias in a magnetic flux generated from the coil.

Improved supported hydroprocessing catalysts, and their method of preparation useful for the hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) of a petroleum feedstock, including a residuum hydrocarbon feedstock are disclosed. The Catalysts contain at least one Groups VIB metal component, at least one Group VIII metal component, and a phosphorus component, supported on a foraminous support such as alumina. The supported catalysts are characterized by a specific combination of properties, namely, the Group VIII metal to Phosphorous molar ratio, the Group VIII metal to Group VIB metal molar ratio, the phosphorous component to Group VIB component molar ratio and the median pore diameter. The resulting catalysts exhibit enhanced HDN without sacrificing to any significant degree the HDS activity.

Proposed is a novel soluble trauma-healing and hemostatic cellulose fiber capable of absorbing and readily dissolving hemorrhaging trauma loci when applied thereto and of promoting the hemostatic action of blood platelets and fibrin and cell adhesion to the trauma site. The coagulation protein-containing soluble trauma-healing and hemostatic cellulose fiber is produced in that after treatment of a natural or regenerated cellulose fiber with an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, said fiber is carboxymethylated by reaction with a monochloro acetic acid solution for a given time (hours) in such a manner that the degree of partial substitution of the glucose units constituting the cellulose molecule (etherification degree) is 0.5-less than 1.0% and that, furthermore, the coagulation proteins fibrinogen, thrombin, and coagulation factor XIII are imparted by surface application or chemical bonding.

A moving hearth is formed by providing a layer of hearth material primarily composed of iron oxide on a base refractory in a reducing furnace and then sintering the hearth material so that the sintered moving hearth is not melted at an operational temperature in a reducing step. The moving hearth is more easily constructed compared to providing a shaped or amorphous refractory on the base refractory, has high durability, and can maintain surface flatness during operation.

Method for producing reduced iron agglomerates

A moving hearth reducing furnace is operated, while a gap is provided between a discharging apparatus for discharging reduced iron agglomerates from the moving hearth reducing furnace and the surface of the moving hearth. The gap prevents squeezing metallic iron powder formed by reduction of powder included in iron oxide agglomerates into the surface of the moving hearth and the formation of an iron sheet. An iron oxide layer formed on the moving hearth during the operation can be periodically scraped off without shutdown of the furnace.
