A method for producing a silver salt of an organic acid, which comprises steps of reacting (1) a solution containing silver ions in water or in a mixture of an organic solvent and water, with (2) a solution or suspension containing an alkali metal salt of an organic acid in water, in a mixture of an organic solvent and water, or in an organic solvent to prepare a silver salt of an organic acid, and removing a byproduct salt by a desalting operation, wherein a dispersing agent having a molecular weight of 3000 or less is added and dispersed during a time period of from before the reaction to before the desalting operation. There is provided a method for producing a silver salt of an organic acid, which can provides low fog, high sensitivity and high concentration of blackening when it is used for photothermographic materials, and is suitable for the production of photothermographic materials having low haze and less image degradation after storage.

A silver halide photographic material is disclosed, comprising a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, wherein at least 30 mol % of silver halide grains contained in the emulsion of the emulsion layer are silver chloride, the emulsion contains not more than 1.times.10.sup.-6 mol per mol of silver of a rhodium compound and/or not more than 1.times.10.sup.-5 mol per mol of silver of an iridium compound, and the silver halide grains have been selenium-sensitized. There is also disclosed a method for processing the silver halide photographic material.

Silver halide photographic materials and method for processing the same

A silver halide photographic material is disclosed, comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide photographic emulsion layer of a silver halide emulsion, wherein the emulsion layer comprises monodisperse cubic silver halide grains which contain at least one metal atom of group VIII in the Periodic Table, and the silver halide emulsion is spectrally sensitized so as to have a sensitization maximum at a wavelength of 750 nm or more and further contains at least one of compounds represented by the following formulae (I-a), (I-b) and (I-c): ##STR1## wherein Z represents an alkyl group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms, an aryl group containing 6 to 18 carbon atoms, or a heterocyclic group; Y represents atoms necessary to complete an aromatic ring containing 6 to 18 carbon atoms, or a hetero ring; M represents a metal atom or an organic cation; and n represents an integer of from 2 to 10.

Silver halide photographic material

A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having at least one pre-fogged direct positive emulsion layer provided on at least one side of the support, wherein silver halide grain formation of the emulsion is carried out in the presence of a silver halide solvent, the emulsion contains at least one of an Rh salt, an Ru salt or a polybromoiridium salt, and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the following formula (I), (II) and (III) is added to the emulsion while the silver halide photographic material is prepared:

A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having provided thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, wherein the emulsion is spectrally sensitized with at least one compound selected from the compounds represented by the following formulae (1) and (2) and contains a compound represented by the following formula (5). ##STR1##

A direct-positive silver halide photographic material is disclosed, which comprises a support having thereon at least one prefogged light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, wherein said silver halide emulsion is an emulsion which has been previously fogged with a gold compound and a tellurium compound.

Direct positive silver halide photographic material

A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having provided thereon a silver halide emulsion layer, in which said silver halide emulsion layer contains at least one sensitizing dye selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by formula (I): ##STR1## and a compound represented by formula (II): ##STR2## and at least one of said silver halide emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloidal layers contains a dye represented by formula (III): ##STR3## wherein the substituents of the formulas (I), (II) and (III) are as described in the specification. The photographic material exhibits excellent performance properties in terms of sensitivity to light emitted from an Hc-Ne laser or an LED, safety from safelight, and freedom from color remaining after processing.

A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide grains, wherein said silver halide grains have a silver chloride content of 30 mol% or more and contain (i) and iridium compound in an amount of 10.sup.-6 mol or less per mol of silver halide, (ii) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of iron, rhenium, ruthenium and osmium compounds in an amount of 10.sup.-3 mol or less per mol of silver halide, and (iii) (a) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by general formula (1-a), (1-b) and (1-c): ##STR1## wherein Z represents a C.sub.1-18 alkyl group, a C.sub.6-18 aryl group or a heterocyclic group; Y represents an atomic group required for the formation of a C.sub.6-18 aromatic ring or a heterocyclic group, said groups represented by Z or formed by Y may be substituted with at least one substituent; M represents a metallic atom or organic cation; and n represents an integer from 2 to 10, and/or (b) the silver halide grains have been chemically sensitized at a pH of 5.5 or less. A process for the development of the silver halide photographic material is also provided wherein processing is effected by an automatic developing machine in a total processing time of 20 to 60 seconds.

Silver halide photographic material and process for the development

A silver halide photographic element with high sensitivity and less processing reliance in a high-illuminance and short-time light exposure which can be processed quickly is provided. The photographic element comprises at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer which has silver halide grains containing an iridium compound and at least one light-insensitive hydrophilic colloid layer.

There is disclosed a silver halide photographic material comprising a support having provided thereon at least one silver halide photosensitive emulsion layer, wherein said silver halide photosensitive emulsion layer contains silver iodobromide grains having a silver iodide content of 0.1 to 4.0 mol %, said grains containing 5.times.10.sup.-9 to 1.times.10.sup.-6 mole of an iridium compound and 5.times.10.sup.-8 to 1.times.10.sup.-3 mole of an iron compound per mole of the silver halide in said silver iodobromide grains, and a method for forming an image comprising the silver halide photographic meterial to a high-irradiation short-duration exposure followed by development. The photographic material has high speed, high contrast and is outstanding in handling properties under a safelight.
