Disclosed are a functional organic thin film formed of a monolayer or multilayers composed of reactive functional group-containing amphiphilic organic molecules in which at least one of the amphiphilic organic molecules is a precursor of a nitrene or carbene and a functional organic thin film containing at least one kind of functional organic molecules formed by the reaction between the nitrene or carbene derived from the precursor and a guest compound molecule of a different kind as well as a method of producing the functional organic thin films. Utilizing the reactivity of the thin film, a functional compound, preferably a biotechnology-related functional compound, of various kinds can be fixed onto the film for use in the sensor image formation or information recording fields.

Functional organic thin film and method of manufacture thereof

A heat-developable color light-sensitive material is disclosed, comprising a support having thereon at least one layer containing a light-sensitive silver halide, a binder, a compound containing a color moiety represented by formula (A), and a compound or a precursor thereof which reacts with an oxidized compound formed from the compound of formula (A), thereby converting the oxidized compound into a nondiffusible form, said compound of formula (A) being represented by ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an acylamino group, an alkylthio group, an arylthio group, or a halogen atom, provided that at least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 represents a hydrogen atom; X represents a chemical bond or a divalent linking group; Dye represents an image-forming dye moiety; and G represents a hydroxyl group or a group capable of forming a hydroxyl group upon heating and/or by the action of a base. The material provides an image having a low minimum density in highlight areas, and excellent color separation and image preservability.

Heat developable color light-sensitive material with dye developers

A heat-developable color light-sensitive material is disclosed, comprising a support having thereon at least one layer containing a light-sensitive silver halide, a binder, a compound containing a color moiety represented by formula (A), and a compound or a precursor thereof which reacts with an oxidized compound formed from the compound of formula (A), thereby converting the oxidized compound into a non-diffusible form, said compound of formula (A) being represented by ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an acylamino group, an alkylthio group, an arylthio group, or a halogen atom, provided that at least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 represents a hydrogen atom; X represents a chemical bond or a divalent linking group; Dye represents an image-forming dye moiety, and G represents a hydroxyl group or a group capable of forming a hydroxyl group upon heating and/or by the action of a base. The material provides an image having a low minimum density in highlight areas, and excellent color separation and image preservability.

Light-sensitive material with compounds reactive with dye developers

A heat-developable color photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least a light-sensitive silver halide, a hydrophilic binder and a dye releasing redox compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein G represents --OR.sup.1 or --NHR.sup.2 ; R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrolyzable group; R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 50 carbon atoms; Z represents an image forming dye group; A represents an atomic group necessary for forming an aromatic ring; Ball represents an organic immobilizing group on the aromatic ring, and when two Ball groups exist, they may be the same or different from each other; m represents an integer of 1 or 2; X represents a divalent organic group containing from 1 to 8 atoms and X with a nucleophilic group (Nu) is capable of forming a 5- to 12-membered ring together with an electrophilic center (the carbon atom marked with *) which is formed by oxidation; Nu represents a nucleophilic group; and n represents an integer of 1 or 2. The heat-developable color photographic material can easily provide a clear and stable color image by imagewise exposure to light and a heat-development procedure. A method of forming a color image using the heat-developable color photographic material is also disclosed.

Benzoxazole derivatives represented by general formula (I) which are intermediates for synthesis of o-sulfonamidophenol derivatives useful as dye releasing redox compounds in a color diffusion transfer color image forming process: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which may be the same as or different from each other, each represents an alkyl group or an aryl group or they may combine and form a ring; R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; R.sup.4 represents an alkyl group or an aryl group; R.sup.5 represents an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an arylthio group, a halogen atom or an acylamino group, or --CR.sup.1 R.sup.2 R.sup.3 and R.sup.5 may combine and form the nucleus ##STR2## which is condensed at the 6- and the 7-positions of the benzoxazole nucleus; and n is 0, 1 or 2.

Benzoxazole derivative intermediates for synthesis of dye releasing

An image-forming method comprising heating a light-sensitive material in a substantially water-free condition is described. The method uses a light-sensitive material comprised of a support having thereon at least light-sensitive silver halide, a binder, an electron donor and/or electron-transfer agent capable of reducing light-sensitive silver halide, and an immobile dye-releasing substance releasing a mobile dye upon reduction with the electron donor and/or electron-transfer agent.

o-Aminophenol compounds

A color image forming process which comprises processing a photographic light-sensitive element comprising a support having thereon a layer containing imagewise distributed silver therein with an aqueous alkaline solution containing a stannous ion and in the presence of a dye and a bispyridinium compound represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a lower aliphatic hydrocarbon group or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are bonded each other to form a ring; n represents 0 or 1; and X.sup.- represents an anion; to bleach the dye in an imagewise manner. By the process of the present invention, color images which are stable to light, heat and moisture are formed using light-sensitive elements containing a reduced amount of silver salt and without using chemicals causing environmental pollution problems for the processing.
