A light-emitting device with an emission wavelength range of from 360 nm to 550 nm and a fluorescent material made of Ca&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Si&#x2014;O&#x2014;N oxynitride activated with Euare used so that a part of light emitted from the light-emitting device is emitted while the wavelength of the part of light is converted by the fluorescent material.

Light-emitting unit having specific fluorescent material

Method and apparatus for arranging light-emitting diodes and light-emitting elements

An LED lamp has: an LED with a pair of terminals; a holder to which the LED is attached, the holder being of insulating material; and a radiation unit that has two metallic radiation plates that are attached to the holder while surrounding the holder and being insulated from each other. Each of the radiation plates has a contact portion that contacts the pair of terminals of the LED being attached to the holder and a power receiving terminals for power supplied to the LED.

Led lamp

A light-emitting diode includes a light-emitting element, a lead assembly for supplying electrical power to the light-emitting element. A reflection mirror is provided in an opposing relation to the light-emitting surface of the light-emitting element. A light-transmissible material seals the light-emitting element, a part of the lead assembly, and the reflection mirror. A radiation surface radiates light reflected on the reflection mirror to the outside. The reflection mirror is a metal mirror which is obtained by processing a metal plate to give it a concave shape or which is obtained by mirror-surface-treating the concave surface of the metal mirror formed by the processing of the metal plate. The radiation surface is formed on the light-transmissible material at its surface at the rear of the light-emitting element.

Light emitting diode

In an LED lamp, a Zener diode is mounted on a copper plate, and a GaN-based light-emitting element is mounted on the Zener diode with an electrode of the element being oriented facedown. Two Zener diodes close to the center of the LED lamp are mounted on a common copper plate, thereby interconnecting the two light-emitting elements in series. Consequently, a Zener diode is connected to the respective two Zener diodes by means of a wire serving as a conductive member. Four light-emitting elements are connected in series, so that four light-emitting elements are connected in series, thus completing a circuit configuration. In this way, use of the Zener diodes for interconnection purpose enables a reduction in the number of minimum required wires. It is better to connect the wire to the upper surfaces of the Zener diodes, thereby obviating a necessity for a redundant wire space and enabling miniaturization of the LED lamp.

LED lamp

Separate leads and a common lead are provided on the upper and lower surfaces of a substrate. A plurality of LED elements are disposed in an array on the common lead on the upper surface of the substrate. The common lead provided on the upper surface of the substrate is connected to the common lead provided on the lower surface of the substrate through through-hole plating. Heat generated from the plurality of LED elements is transferred through the common lead provided on the upper surface of the substrate and the through-hole plating to the common lead provided on the lower surface of the substrate and is release therefrom into the air. By virtue of this construction, an light emitting device can be realized in which heat radiating properties are homogenized, heat radiation efficiency is improved, and a compact structure is obtained and, thus, the color balance is improved and unfavorable phenomena such as lowering in the output of light emitting elements and shortening of the service life are avoided.

Light emitting device

A light source in a backlight portion is composed of red LEDs, green LEDs, and blue LEDs. The numbers of respective kinds of LEDs used are selected so that the number of blue LEDs is not smaller than the number of red LEDs and the number of blue LEDs is not smaller than the number of green LEDs.

Liquid-crystal display device

A light-emitting device with an emission wavelength range of from 360 nm to 550 nm and a fluorescent material made of Ca&mdash;Al&mdash;Si&mdash;O&mdash;N oxynitride activated with Eu are used so that a part of light emitted from the light-emitting device is emitted while the wavelength of the part of light is converted by the fluorescent material.

Light-emitting unit

A light-emitting system has a base, and LEDs disposed on a front surface of the base. The alignment of the LEDs includes a first group of LEDs each having first and second electrodes on a light-emitting surface side, and a second group of LEDs each having a first electrode on the light-emitting surface side and a second electrode on the base side. The first group of LEDs and the second group of LEDs are arranged alternately in a line on the front surface of the base. The first group of LEDs includes at least one blue LED and green LEDs larger in number than the blue LED. The second group of LEDs includes red LEDs larger in number than the blue LED. A full-color light source unit is provided that includes the first and second groups of LEDS.

Full-color light source unit

A steering wheel includes a steering wheel body and a horn pad disposed above a boss section and held by the steering wheel body. The back side of the horn pad is provided with a plurality of hook legs, and the steering wheel body is provided with a plurality of latch portions corresponding to the hook legs. Disposed between the horn pad and the steering wheel body are a spring for urging the horn pad upward and a horn switch unit for actuating a horn in depressing a horn pad. A control portion for actuating the horn switch unit upon depression of the horn pad is arranged in a rear section of the horn pad. Laterally provided in a front section of the horn pad is a center-of-pivot portion which acts as the center of pivot when the horn pad is depressed.
