In a handle switch device of a vehicle, a switch casing which surrounds a bar handle and accommodates a switch in the inside thereof is mounted on the bar handle, and a manipulation knob which manipulate the switch is mounted on a rear wall of the switch casing. The manipulation knob is arranged substantially at the same height as the bar handle and is tiltably supported on the switch casing by way of a pivot shaft, the switch is formed of a slide-type switch in which a movable contact holder slides, the switch is arranged in the inside of the switch casing above or below the bar handle, and the manipulation knob and the movable contact holder are connected with each other by way of moving direction conversion means which converts a tilting of the manipulation knob to a linear movement and transmits the linear movement to the movable contact holder. Thus, it is possible to provide a handle switch device of a vehicle which exhibits favorable manipulability of a manipulation knob and has a compact shape.

A tail light structure having a light-emitting body and a reflector member for reflecting light from the light-emitting body for external illumination. The reflector member has a lower reflecting surface for receiving maximum external light and an upper reflecting surface and left and right reflecting surfaces, and the lower reflecting surface having a lower reflectance than the upper reflecting surface and the left and right reflecting surfaces.

A headlight includes a low-beam lamp arranged on a longitudinally extending center line of a vehicle body and left and right high-beam lamps arranged on the opposite sides of the low-beam lamp as viewed in plan. This arrangement permits the total reflection area of the reflecting portions of the left and right high-beam lamps can be increased. The lens of the low-beam lamp and the left and right high-beam lamps is integrally formed and largely curved toward the front side of the vehicle body, thereby suppressing an increase in the air resistance by the headlight. Accordingly, the brightness of the headlight can be increased without changing the rated powers of the bulbs of the low-beam lamp and the high-beam lamps. Further, by symmetrically arranging the left and right high-beam lamps with respect to the low-beam lamp, the illumination condition on the road surface by the high beam in the case of cornering to the left can be made similar to that in the case of cornering to the right.

A controlling device for controlling the transmission ratio of a non-stage transmission in a vehicle. The transmission ratio is controlled according to a forecast output power of the vehicle. The output power is forecast based on an operating condition of the vehicle, such as atmospheric pressure. The control considers various operating parameters. A comparison of a predetermined ratio of increase of engine speed or throttle opening with actual ratios of increase of engine speed or throttle opening may be made in controlling the transmission ratio. An uneven road surface is detected and a transmission ratio of the transmission is controlled accordingly to substantially eliminate hunting. An engine speed is controlled so that the engine speed may not exceed a predetermined rotational speed when the transmission gear ratio is fixed. A target engine speed or target transmission ratio is corrected in response to an output signal of a comparison device which compares an actual vehicle velocity with a set vehicle velocity during automatic fixed vehicle velocity running.

A construction of a starter motor for taking off the power to the outside, is operable wherein the power from the starter motor can be taken off as the externally operating section other than the power of an engine. The starter motor includes a first reduction mechanism having a motor shaft as an input shaft. The motor shaft transmits power to a coaxial output shaft. A pinion gear is provided on the engine side of the first output shaft in association with a ring gear. A second reduction mechanism utilizes the first output shaft as an input shaft, to transmit power to a second output shaft. The second output shaft is rotatably coupled onto the first output shaft and coaxial therwith, to permit the power to be taken off to the outside near the pinion gear. The first and second reduction mechanisms each include a sun gear provided on the input shaft, an internal gear and a plurality of planetary gears provided between the sun gear and the internal gear and being mesh with the both gears. The first and second reduction mechanism are axially arranged within a first and second bracket which are integrally fixed to each other by bolts.

Construction of starter motor for taking off power to outside

The fuel tank of a motorcycle or other similar vehicle contains an immersible fuel pump unit arranged to effectively pass fuel from the fuel tank regardless of reduced levels of fuel therein. Also, the fuel pump unit and other elements of the fuel supply system are organized to lower the center of gravity of the vehicle and to improve operation of the engine by more effectively exhausting air bubbles from the fuel flow stream and reducing the amount of heat capable of being transferred from the engine to the fuel supply pipe, thus to prevent expansion of any air bubbles that may migrate through the fuel supply pipe.

Motorcycle fuel tank and fuel pump apparatus

A vehicle height control device that includes a pressure sensor 28 for detecting the pressure of compressed air supplied to pneumatic shock absorbers 10 for pneumatically bearing the load of a vehicle loads applied through the wheels. A control circuit 30 is included for controlling vehicle height based on the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 28. A waveform shaping circuit is connected between the control circuit 30 and the pressure sensor 28 and shapes the waveform to moderate the pressure change while the pressure is rising to a greater degree than while the pressure is dropping. The waveform shaping circuit includes a passive low-pass filter circuit 38, an active low-pass filter circuit 52 and a pair of diodes 70 and 72. The diodes 70 and 72 connected to the active filter circuit 52, allowing rapid capacitor discharge during decreases in signal amplitude while maintaining a slow discharge rate during decreases in signal amplitude.
