The present invention discloses a television receiving system comprising: a smart antenna having a receiving unit that electrically switches directions of receiving television broadcasting signals and a connecting portion that is detachably connected to the receiving unit; and a television receiver couple with the receiving unit though the connecting portion and having a holding portion that holds the receiving unit detached from the connecting portion on a rear surface of the television receiver where is opposite to a front surface displaying videos.

Television receiving system

With a power supply provided for a smart antenna, whether the antenna is connected is determined according to whether the power supply is connected. When it is determined that the smart antenna is not connected, power supply to units related only to controlling of the smart antenna is stopped, whereby power saving is realized. Further, user's setting for discriminating kinds of antennas becomes unnecessary and, when a smart antenna is not connected, power supply for the same can be prevented.

Broadcast receiving apparatus

The present invention discloses a smart antenna that includes: a switch unit that switches a direction for receiving radio waves; and an outer covering unit that covers the smart antenna and is made of an insulating material.

Smart antenna and antenna fixing mechanism

Disclosed is an antenna system, including: an antenna which can switch directivity thereof when receiving an analog television broadcasting signal; a switching section to switch the directivity of the antenna; a measurement section to measure radio wave quality of the analog television broadcasting signal received by the antenna by analyzing the analog television broadcasting signal when the directivity of the antenna is switched by the switching section; a storage section to store data of radio wave quality in different directions measured by the measurement section for each channel; and a control section to control the switching section to switch the directivity of the antenna to one direction having a highest radio wave quality among the different directions corresponding to a desired channel when the desired channel is designated.
