In controlling a seat belt retractor, at least one of signals selected from a state signal showing a movement of an occupant wearing a seat belt and an external signal obtained from detecting means installed in a vehicle during running thereof is received. Then, a rotational torque of a motor is selected to a predetermined reduction ratio corresponding to at least one of the state signal and the external signal from a plurality of torques. The motor is controlled to a predetermined torque, to thereby wind the webbing on the spool.

Controlling method of seat belt retractor

In controlling a seat belt retractor, at least one of signals selected from a state signal showing a movement of an occupant wearing a seat belt and an external signal obtained from detecting means installed in a vehicle during running thereof is received. Then, a rotation of a spool for a webbing is controlled by switching a rotational torque of a motor to a predetermined reduction ratio corresponding to at least one of the state signal and the external signal, or a driving state of the motor is controlled to a predetermined torque, to thereby wind the webbing on the spool. After fastening the seat belt, the seat belt is automatically wound, and after a predetermined time from completion of winding of the webbing, it is determined whether the winding of the webbing is further needed, and if necessary, the webbing is wound again.

A seat belt retractor includes a base frame, a spool having a spool shaft journalled to the base frame, a webbing wound around the spool, a return spring connected to the spool for winding the webbing by a return force thereof, a motor connected to the spool for winding the spool, and a speed-reduction mechanism interposed between the motor and the spool. The speed-reduction mechanism winds the webbing at a low speed for fitting the webbing to an occupant, and includes a contrate gear with a predetermined reduction gear ratio. Thus, the webbing is wound by operation of the motor via the contrate gear.

Seat belt retractor

A seat belt retractor includes a base frame, a spool journalled to the base frame, a webbing wound around the spool, and a motor for rotating the spool. A speed-reduction mechanism is interposed between the motor and the spool. The speed-reduction mechanism includes at least one transmission train with a predetermined gear ratio, a common transmission element connected to the transmission train, and a resistant torque device connected to the transmission train. The common transmission element transmits rotation of the motor to the spool when the torque of the rotation is smaller than the preset value. Winding of the webbing is made based on the wearing condition of the webbing and the running condition of the vehicle.

Seat belt retractor with switching means

A buckle is provided with a non-contact buckle switch to find an engagement condition with a tongue. When a lock member of the buckle is disposed in a locking position, a magnetic field produced by a magnet and applied to an IC Hall element differs from a case where the lock member is disposed in a non-locking position. The difference of the magnetic field is caused by the magnetic lock member moved close to the magnet and the IC Hall element, whereby an electrical current outputted by the electromotive force of the IC Hall element is changed. Thus, it is possible to determine that the lock pin is set in the locking position. The buckle switch is improved in durability and can operate more reliably.

An optical fiber which comprises a coating layer disposed outside a bare optical fiber having a core and a cladding and a grating formed in the core of the exposed bare optical fiber by removing the coating layer and its manufacturing method. The optical fiber is provided with a re-coating layer disposed in the exposed bare optical fiber.

Method of manufacturing a reflector

An acceleration sensor is formed of a housing, an inertia member located inside the housing so as to be freely movable in a longitudinal direction of the housing, a conductor provided on at least an end surface of the inertia member in the longitudinal direction of the housing, a pair of electrodes disposed at one end side of the longitudinal direction of the housing, and electrically connected together by a conductive bridging inertia member. An attractor is disposed at the other end side of the longitudinal direction of the housing and magnetically attracts the inertia member. A stopper is disposed at an opposite side of the inertia member with respect to the electrodes, and abuts against the tip surface of the inertia member when the inertia member moves forwardly. The stopper is disposed at a position which is located off-center with respect to or deviated from the axial center line of the housing.
