A front side member includes, at a front portion, a front section in which an upper flange joint protrudes outward in a lateral direction of the vehicle. A reinforcing plate is overlapped with and welded to a laterally-outward side surface of the front section. The reinforcing plate includes a flange that is overlapped with and welded to the upper flange joint of the front side member. A rear end of the reinforcing plate extends to the same position as a rear end of the front section or further rearward. The reinforcing plate reduces deformation of the front section and the upper flange joint, inhibiting collapse of the closed cross sectional structure of the front side member.

Vehicle front body structure

A side sill outer panel and a side sill inner panel form a closed cross-sectional structure. A front end of a side sill is located at a rear of and spaced apart from a front tire-wheel unit on a front side of a vehicle. The side sill extends rearward. A front end portion of an outer reinforcement is located rearward from front end portions of both the side sill outer panel and the side sill inner panel.

A suspension tower is coupled to a front side member at a portion of the front side member located frontward from a front pillar. A frontal vehicle structure includes a coupling member including a front end coupled to the suspension tower and a rear end coupled to the front pillar. The coupling member includes an outer panel and an inner panel that form a closed cross-sectional structure. The outer panel includes a weak portion arranged between a joined portion of the coupling member joined to the suspension tower and a joined portion of the coupling member joined to the front pillar.

A headrest stay includes a pair of first stay-composing parts extending in top and bottom directions of a seat back while supported by the seat back, the first stay-composing parts being arranged in different positions in a direction of vehicle width; and a second stay-composing part connecting specific parts of the first stay-composing parts in the direction of the vehicle width, the specific parts extending straight in the top and bottom directions of the seat back. The specific parts face a head of an occupant seated on the seat. A portion of the second stay-composing part, which portion is between the one specific part and the other specific part in the direction of the vehicle width, is not located further forward than the specific parts, and at least part of the portion is located further rearward than the specific parts.

Headrest stay and active headrest

An S-springis provided in a state of tension between a pair of seat back framesconstituting a vehicle seat. A support sectionof a bracketfixed to the seat back framesupports a part of an end of the S-springfrom behind. The support sectionis formed with a length equal to or greater than one pitch of the S-springin a no-load state and discontinuously supports center portions &#x3b1; of the S-spring. When a load equal to or greater than a predetermined level acts on the S-spring, the S-springis stretched to cause the center portions &#x3b1; to be dislocated from the support sections, and as a result, the length of a deflectable portion of the S-springis changed.
