A print medium conveyance devicehas a tractor, conveyance roller, and clutch mechanism. The tractorsequentially engages engagement holes formed in a line in the medium and conveys the print medium in a specific conveyance direction X. The conveyance rolleris disposed downstream from the tractorin the conveyance direction X, and has a friction layercontaining an inorganic particle dispersion formed on the surface. the clutch mechanismis between the conveyance motorand tractor, and interrupts transfer of drive power from the conveyance motorto the tractorat least in part under a specific condition. The print medium can therefore be conveyed with high precision while damage to the print medium by excessive tension can be prevented.

Print medium conveyance device and printing device

A disc transportation mechanism for a disc processing device holds and transports discs by gripping the center hole of the disc. The disc transportation mechanism has a hole position detector and a position adjustment mechanism. The hole position detector detects the position of the center hole in a disc discharged to a disc transfer position from a label printer. The position adjustment mechanism can change the position of the gripping mechanism on the arm. After moving the arm to the disc transfer position, the transportation mechanism control unit controls the arm moving mechanism and/or position adjustment mechanism based on the detected position of the center hole to move the gripping mechanism to a picking position where it can grip the disc. The gripping mechanism can therefore correctly grip the disc even when the disc is not correctly discharged to the disc transfer position, and label damage can therefore be prevented.

Disc transportation mechanism and disk processing device

The direction in which the media traymoves in and out of the printer and the direction in which the inkjet headmoves when printing are on the same line along the front-to-back axis Y of the label printer, and the written mediumB carried on the media trayis positioned on the printing line of the inkjet headwhen the media traymoves to the tray retraction positionA. Moving the media trayretracted inside the printer widthwise to the printer from the tray retraction positionA to the printing position is unnecessary, and printing can start immediately while moving the media trayfrom the tray retraction positionA on the widthwise axis X of the printer. The width of the label printercan be reduced because the media traymoves only the diameter of the media widthwise to the printer.

Printer and media processing device

A media processor, such as an optical disk publisher, is capable of efficiently discarding media such as a defective CD without using a manual discarding process. At the time of media publication of an optical disk publisher, blank mediastored in a supply-side stackeris taken out by a media conveying mechanismand is conveyed to a media drive, and predetermined data is written into the blank media. Printing is performed on printing surfaces of the media into which data has been normally written by means of a label printer. The published media is stored in a storage-side stacker. Defective media on which a failure in writing has occurred is disposed of so as not to be readable by mechanically destroying a recording surface of the defective media by means of a media disposal mechanism while moving the defective media in a state where the defective media is mounted on a media trayof a printer. Media processor capable of efficiently discarding media

An interface module waits for the arrival of data to be received from a host computer and decides whether the received data is journal print data. If the received data is journal print data, the interface module causes flash memory to store the data and if the received data is print data (e.g., receipt print data) other than the journal print data, the interface module transmits the fact to a printer. The interface module is fitted in the interface board slot of the printer.
