An engine-driven generator is formed by supporting on a frame an engine and a generator driven by the engine, wherein the frame is formed by integrally connecting via a cross member lower side sections of a pair of left and right side frames formed by bending a steel pipe into a U-shape, a control box housing and holding an electrical component is mounted on open end parts of the two side frames in order to reinforce the frame by connecting the open end parts to each other, and an assembly of the engine and generator is resiliently supported on the cross member.

Engine-driven generator

In order to suppress freezing of a water content within a breather tube, a heater () is arranged within a breather tube () joining a cylinder head cover () and an air cleaner (). A main body of the breather tube () is constituted by a joint tube () arranged in a middle, and partial tubes () connected to both ends thereof. The heater () has a heating element () corresponding to a heating element, and has a heater case () accommodating the heating element () in a state of being pinched by electrodes (), and is arranged in a center portion of the joint. A slot () for inserting the heater () is formed in the joint tube. A heat radiating body () extended along the breather tube () is joined to the heater case (). An outer peripheral portion of the breather tube () is covered by an insulative outer tube ().

Engine with breather apparatus

An output voltage regulator for an engine-driven generator that can satisfactory suppress fluctuation in output voltage, even when an output waveform of the generator is distorted. An engine revolution period that represents a period of output voltage is detected by use of an ignition signal. Data that represents an output waveform is obtained by squaring and adding up an instantaneous value of the output voltage for one period of engine revolution. Furthermore, a square root of the data is extracted as an effective value. An operation duty of a transistor Qprovided in an output circuit of an excitation winding Lthat supplies a field current 'if' is determined based on a difference between the effective value and a target voltage. The field current 'if' changes according to the difference, and the output voltage is thereby regulated according to a load.

Output voltage regulator for engine-driven generator

In an automatic switchover device for a power source designed to automatically switch over systems for supplying electric power to an electric load in such a manner that electric power output from an engine generator is supplied to the electric load upon power failure of a regular power source system, a seesaw-type turn member is mounted for turning movement between a first turned position in which it permits a common contact to be electrically connected to a first individual contact and a second turned position in which it permits the common contact to be electrically connected to a second individual contact. First and second solenoids capable of exerting an electromagnetic force for driving the seesaw-type turn member toward one of the first and second turned position, each include a plunger which has an operating portion enabling the plunger to be pushed in from the outside, thereby enabling an operator's manual switching.

Automatic switchover device for power source

A power unit is provided which can perform stable feedback control by reducing a feedback gain, and sufficiently cope with fluctuations in the output voltage occurring according to fluctuations in the input voltage caused by fluctuations in the rotational speed of an engine. A pair of variable control bridge circuits are connected to three-phase output windings of a three-phase generator driven by the engine, and connected in an antiparallel manner to each other to form a cycloconverter for generating a single-phase alternating current to be supplied to a load. An effective voltage value-detecting circuits detects an effective value of a voltage of the alternating current. A reference effective voltage value-generating circuit generates a reference effective voltage for controlling the single-phase alternating current. A target wave-forming circuit forms a target wave for making the effective value of the voltage closer to a value of the reference effective voltage. A firing angle control device performs switching control of the variable control bridge circuits, based on the target wave, such that the variable control bridge circuits are alternately switched to operate every half a repetition period of the alternating current. A rotational fluctuation-detecting circuit detects fluctuations in a rotational speed of the engine in a rotation cycle thereof. A gain-adjusting circuit generates a reverse characteristic signal having a characteristic reverse to a characteristic of the fluctuations in the rotational speed of the engine. A comparator corrects amplitude of the target wave based on the reverse characteristic signal.

Power unit

A power unit is provided which can perform stable feedback control by reducing a feedback gain, and sufficiently cope with fluctuations in the output voltage occurring according to fluctuations in the input voltage caused by fluctuations in the rotational speed of an engine. A pair of variable control bridge circuits are connected to three-phase output windings of a three-phase generator driven by the engine, and connected in an antiparallel manner to each other to form a cycloconverter for generating a single-phase alternating current to be supplied to a load. A voltage-detecting circuit detects a voltage of the three-phase alternating current. An effective voltage value-calculating circuit calculates an effective value of the voltage of the alternating current. A reference sinusoidal waveform-forming circuit generates a voltage of a reference waveform for controlling the single-phase alternating current. A reference effective voltage value-generating circuit generates a reference effective voltage for controlling the single-phase alternating current. A firing angle control device controls the pair of variable control bridge circuits such that the pair of variable control bridge circuits alternately switch to operate every half a repetition period of the single-phase alternating current, so as to make the effective value of the voltage of the single-phase alternating current closer to a value of the reference effective voltage, and at the same time, make the voltage of the single-phase alternating current closer to the voltage having the reference waveform.

A power unit is provided which is capable of controlling electric current to be supplied to a load connected to the power unit, in a flexible manner in dependence on a load condition. Postive and negative converters of a cycloconver are connected to three-phase output windings of a three-phase generator and connected in an antiparallel manner to each other for generating a single-phase alternating current to be supplied to the load. A firing angle control device causes the positive and negative converters to be alternately switched to operate every half a repetition period of the single-phase alternating current, to thereby cause the cycloconverter to generate the single-phase alternating current. A desired wave-forming circuit forms a desired waveform of a drive signal input to the firing angle control device, for causing the firing angle control device to drive the positive and negative converters, such that the output single-phase alternating current has a desired alternating current waveform. An amplitude control circuit changes a shape of the desired waveform in dependence on variation in the load so as to stabilize an output voltage of the cycloconverter. An amplitude-limiting circuit limits amplitude of the desired waveform to a smaller value when the output voltage of the cycloconverter becomes equal to or lower than a predetermined value.

A power unit is provided which is capable of controlling a rise in voltage applied to each of thyristors constituting a cycloconverter even when the output voltage of the power unit undergoes a temporary sharp rise due to characteristics of a load connected thereto. Positive and negative converters of the cycloconverter are connected to three-phase output windings of a three-phase generator and connected in an antiparallel manner to each other for generating a single-phase alternating current to be supplied via a pair of output lines to the load. A firing angle control device causes the positive and negative converters to be alternately switched to operate every half a repetition period of the single-phase alternating current, to thereby cause the cycloconverter to generate the single-phase alternating current. A bridge rectifier is connected between the pair of output lines. An electric energy-storing capacitor circuit is connected to the output of the bridge rectifier, for storing the rectified output therein.

A portable power unit has a magneto generator having three-phase output windings. A synchronizing signal is formed in synchronism with an output frequency of the magneto generator. A pair of variable control bridge circuits are connected to the three-phase output windings and connected in antiparallel connection to each other to form a cycloconverter for generating a single-phase alternating current having a desired frequency to be supplied to a load. A bridge drive circuit is responsive to the synchronizing signal from the synchronizing signal-forming circuit, for causing the pair of variable control bridge circuits to be alternately switched to operate every half a repetition period of the single-phase alternating current, to thereby cause the cycloconverter to generate the single-phase alternating current. An output voltage-detecting circuit detects an output voltage of the pair of variable control bridge circuits. An output voltage-adjusting circuit compares the output voltage detected by the output voltage-detecting circuit with a desired voltage to thereby control the bridge drive circuit in a manner such that the output voltage of the pair of variable control bridge circuits is maintained substantially at a fixed value.
