A novel titanyl phthalocyanine crystal, a photoconductive material comprising the same, and an electrophotographic photoreceptor using the same are disclosed. The titanyl phthalocyanine crystal has a primary particle diameter ranging from 0.03 to 0.15 &mgr;m, shows a maximum X-ray diffraction peak at a Bragg angle (2&thgr;&plusmn;0.2&deg;) of 27.3&deg;, has a ellipsoidal tabular form, and has a BET specific surface area of not less than 35 m,/g. The crystal has improved crystal form stability against solvents and holds its crystal form for an extended period of time in a dispersed and coated state. An electrophotographic photoreceptor using the crystal as a photoconductive material is excellent in sensitivity, stability, and durability.

Titanyl phthalocyanine crystal and electrophotographic photoreceptor using the same

An electrophotographic photoreceptor showing no reduction in charge property and no increase in residual potential when repeatedly used under the circumstances of high temperature and humidity for a long time and exhibiting excellent environmental stability, which comprises an electrically conductive substrate having thereon at least a charge generating layer and a charge transporting layer, wherein a binder contained in said charge generating layer comprises at least one organic metal compound selected from the group consisting of organic metal alkoxides and organic metal chelate compounds.

Electrophotographic photoreceptor

A novel titanyl phthalocyanine crystal, a photoconductive material comprising the same, and an electrophotographic photoreceptor using the same are disclosed. A novel titanyl phthalocyanine crystal showing X-ray diffraction peaks at Bragg angles (2.theta..+-.0.2) of 27.2.degree., 24.0.degree., 18.0.degree., 14.3.degree., and 9.5.degree. and an electrophotographic photoreceptor containing the same as a charge generating layer are disclosed. The photoreceptor exhibits high photosensitivity and durability.

According to this invention, there is provided an inorganic-organic or semiconductive inorganic-organic composite material formed by polycondensing a metal alkoxide in the presence of an organic compound by a sol-gel process. According to other embodiment of this invention, there is provided a process for producing an inorganic-organic or semiconductive inorganic-organic composite material formed by polycondensing a metal alkoxide in the presence of an organic compound by a sol-gel process, which comprises adding to a sol solution of at least one metal alkoxide. Furthermore, according to another embodiment of this invention, there is also provided an electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising a conductive support having formed thereon a charge generating layer and a charge transporting layer, wherein the charge transporting layer comprises a matrix formed by polycondensing at least one metal alkoxide and an organic compound as a charge transporting agent having an affinity with the metal alkoxide.

An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising an electrically conductive substrate having thereon a photosensitive layer is disclosed, wherein the photosensitive layer contains, as a charge generating material, a dispersion of selenium or a selenium alloy and at least one squarylium compound represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein A represents a fluorine atom, a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group, with B representing a hydroxyl group; or A represents a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom, with B representing a methyl group, in the same binder resin.
