An optical glass includes, in terms of mol % of cations, a total amount of La, Y, and Gdcomponents falling within a range of from 5% to 65% and a total amount of Zr, Hf, and Tacomponents falling within a range of from 5% to 65%, and a relationship expressed in Expression (1) given below is satisfied. (La+Y+Gd)×(Zr+Hf+Ta)≥400(%).

Provided is an optical glass containing respective components of SiOfrom 14 to 26% by mass, BOfrom 9 to 16% by mass, and LaOfrom 10 to 42% by mass as essential components, and containing respective components of ZnO, YO, ZrO, TaO, LiO, and NaO as optional components, and satisfying respective relationships of SiO+BOfrom 28 to 36% by mass, ZrO+TaOfrom 6 to 16% by mass, LaO+YO+ZnO from 43 to 59% by mass, and LiO+NaO from 2 to 14% by mass.

An optical glass which is suitable for mold press molding. The optical glass contains, in weight %, 10-25% of BO, 30-60% of PO, 0-5% of AlO, 0.1-10% of LiO, 0-15% of SrO, 10-50% of BaO, 0-12% of ZnO, 0-5% of YOand 0-5% of GdO, while not containing LaO.
