Thermal head and printer

A head substrate for mounting a driver IC that selectively drives a plurality of driving elements is provided. An input signal wiring pattern electrically connects external connection terminals with the pads in a first pad array and a second pad array. The input signal wiring pattern includes a clock signal line for supplying the clock signal to the driver IC and a logic power line for supplying the logic power to the driver IC. A part of the clock signal line and a part of the logic power line are disposed between the first pad array and the second pad array.

Head substrate and thermal head substrate

A printer avoids scratching or damaging the platen and print defects caused by adhesive. The printerprints to thermal paper S that has an adhesive areaformed on one side with the edges of the paper adhesive-free, and color layers formed on the other side of the paper. The thermal paper S is wound sequentially into a roll so that the other side is on the outside without applying a liner protecting the adhesive areaon the one side. The printerhas a platen, a heating element unit, and a guide incline. The platenis disposed to a main cover, rotates in the thermal paper S transportation direction, and applies pressure to the thermal paper S from the one side. The heating element unitselectively heats the other side of the paper. The guide inclineguides the thermal paper S in a prescribed direction without contacting the area on the back of the adhesive areaon the other side of the thermal paper S after the thermal paper S passes the heating element unit, and guides the platento a prescribed position so that the platendoes not contact the heating element unitwhen the main cover is closed.

A multifeed detection apparatus and method for use in a check processing terminal including a paper supply unit for individually feeding a plurality of checks from the paper supply unit along a check transportation path in a given direction; a MICR head having a non-movable contact surface on one side of the check transportation path; a pressure member disposed on another side of the check transportation path opposite the non-movable contact surface for pressing one or more transported checks between the pressure member and the MICR head; and a displacement detection sensor for detecting physical displacement of the pressure member from the non-movable contact surface to indicate check thickness.

Printer and control method for the same

In a printer which can print both a paper roll and cut paper, when cut paper is printed, a gap between the cut paper and a platen can be keep fixed. In an ink-jet printer,wherein a printing position for a paper roll,is formed in a part of a printing position,for cut paper,the surface of a platen for a paper roll,defining the printing position for the paper roll,is backed at least by a dimension G equivalent to the thickness of the paper roll from the surface of a platen for cut paper,defining the printing position for the cut paper,When cut paper is printed, a gap between a part of cut paper carried with the part overlapped on a paper roll and the platen is equal to a gap between the other part of the cut paper and the platen. Therefore, the deterioration caused by the variation of the gap of the quality of printing on cut paper can be solved.
