Described is a process for producing 1,2-epoxy-5,9-cyclododecadiene, which comprises bringing 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene into contact with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a carboxylic acid having an acid dissociation constant K at 25&deg; C. of 5.0&times;10,&lE;K&lE;1.0&times;10,. The present invention makes it possible to provide an industrially desirable process which permits the production of 1,2-epoxy-5,9-cyclododecadiene with good selectivity and facilitates control of reaction including shortening of the reaction time.

Process for producing epoxycyclododecadiene

1,2-epoxy-5,9-cyclododecadiene is produced with a high selectivity thereto by epoxidizing 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene in a continuous multi-stage oxidation apparatus having a plurality of reactors connected to each other in series in such a manner that (1) in a first reactor, 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene, hydrogen peroxide, catalyst components and optionally a mineral acid are subjected to an epoxidation reaction; (2) the resultant reaction mixture delivered from the first reactor is passed through one or more succeeding reactors to further epoxidize the non-reacted 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene with the non-reacted hydrogen peroxide; and (3) the final reaction mixture produced in a rearend reactor is delivered from the oxidation apparatus, and optionally subjected to an isolation-refining procedure wherein the target 1,2-epoxy-5,9-cyclododecadiene is refined and collected and the non-reacted 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene is recovered and recycled to the epoxidation procedure.

Process for producing 1,2-epoxy-5,9-cyclododecadiene

A purpose of this invention is to provide a vapor drier which can continue a process to dry efficiently objects in an extremely clean condition for a long time. A vapor drier of this invention comprises a circulating/dehydrating/refining means for refining said volatile processing liquid stored in said processing room and circulating refined fluid into said processing room, said circulating/dehydrating/refining means having at least an evaporating section to evaporate said volatile processing liquid stored in said processing room, a dehydrating section to remove water from said vapor generated in said evaporating section with a dehydrating/separating membrane, and a distilling section to distill said dehydrated vapor.

A lower alcohol, for example, ethyl alcohol, is recovered from a reaction mixture resulted from a reaction of catechol with a lower alcohol in such a manner that the reaction mixture is distilled and separated into a distilled light vapor fraction comprising non-reacted lower alcohol and water and a residual fraction comprising a reaction product and non-reacted catechol; the distilled light vapor fraction is further distilled and separated into a distilled vapor fraction comprising the lower alcohol in an increased concentration and a residual water fraction; the distilled vapor fraction is fed to a gas-separating membrane module which allows water vapor to selectively permeate therethrough, and separated into a non-permeated fraction which comprises the lower alcohol in a high concentration, which is left in the feed side of the membrane, and a permeated fraction which comprises water in a high concentration, which is returned from the delivery side of the membrane to the further distilling step, and the non-permeated fraction is cooled and recovered.

Process for recovering a lower alcohol from a catechol-lower alcohol

An improved method for dehydration and concentration of an aqueous solution containing an organic compound is disclosed. The solution is evaporated to produce a gaseous mixture comprising an organic compound vapor and a water vapor. The water vapor is selectively removed from the gaseous mixture by permeation through an aromatic polyimide gas separation membrane while the gaseous mixture being kept in contact with a surface on one side of the gas separation membrane at a temperature of 70.degree. C. or higher to obtain a gaseous mixture comprising the organic compound vapor and a reduced amount of a water vapor.

Method for dehydration and concentration of aqueous solution containing

A process for the mutual separation of volatile components in a mixture comprising at least two volatile components, comprising the steps of: (1) heating a starting liquid comprising at least two volatile components to vaporize the starting liquid and form a vapor mixture comprising the volatile component, (2) compressing the vapor mixture to cause a rise in the temperature and pressure thereof, (3) applying the compressed vapor mixture to a membrane having a selective permeability to separate the vapor mixture into a membrane-permeated fraction and a non membrane-permeated fraction, (4) indirectly placing at least one of the fractions in contact with the starting liquid of step (1) via a heat transferring wall to use the heat of the contacted fraction to vaporize the starting liquid, and (5) recovering one or both of the membrane-permeated fraction and non membrane-permeated fraction; and an apparatus for a mutual separation of volatile components in a mixture comprising at least two volatile components, comprising: (1) an evaporator having at least one heat exchanger into which at least one fraction separated by a membrane separator of (3) is introduced, a starting liquid feeding side, an evaporation residue discharging side, and an optional auxiliary heater; to generate a vapor mixture, (2) a compressor to compress the vapor mixture, and (3) a membrane separator comprising a member having a selective permeability to separate the compressed vapor mixture into a membrane-permeated faction and a non membrane-permeated fraction.
