A display system comprises illumination means for providing a light beam; at least one color channel, each color channel being adapted for providing at least part of the light beam to a spatial light modulator panel comprising at least a first and a second zone; the spatial light modulator panel being for selectively modulating an impinging beam of light to form an image light beam. The display system further comprises splitting means for splitting the at least part of the light beam so that a split light beam is provided on the spatial light modulator panel, the split light beam comprising at least a first and a second sub-beam, and driving means for driving the first and second sub-beams such that the first sub-beam scrolls over the first zone and the second sub-beam scrolls over the second zone. A corresponding method to the display system is provided.

In one aspect, the present invention relates to a stereoscopic projection system including a projection device with at least one filter which filters a parameter of the light in a color selective manner. The at least one filter which filters a parameter of the light in a color selective manner has a spectral characteristic for transmitting light in a first wavelength band or set of wavelength bands and for reflecting light in a second wavelength band or set of wavelength bands. The projection device includes a device, such as e.g. a rotating wheel or a sliding filter, for fast synchronized switching between light in different wavelength bands or sets of wavelength bands. In a further aspect, a stereoscopic projection system is provided in which a combination of a first and a second filter mechanism are used, the first filter mechanism being a filter which filters a parameter of the light in a color selective manner, such as a color selective filter or a color selective retarder, and the second filter mechanism preferably being a polarizer or a shutter.

Method and device for performing stereoscopic image display based on color selective filters

An imaging system () for displaying color images is described. The imaging system () comprises an illumination source () for generating an illumination beam, an illumination splitting means () typically for generating different primary color illumination beams and a plurality of image modulators (). The illumination splitting means () comprises a dynamic selecting means () adapted for, for a single color image to be imaged, subsequently generating different sub-sets of primary color sub-beams from said illumination beam and directing these sub-sets of primary color sub-beams to a static selecting means (). The illumination splitting means () also comprises a static selecting means () adapted for, for each of said subsequently generated sub-sets of primary color sub-beams, directing primary color sub-beams to said plurality of image modulators () for modulating each of said directed primary color sub-beams from said sub-sets for generating said single color image to be imaged. The invention furthermore relates to a controller for synchronization between the image modulators and the dynamic selecting means and to a method for imaging an image.

Methods and systems for imaging having an illumination splitting means with a dynamic selecting means and a static selecting means

A dimming system () for dimming electromagnetic radiation intensity of a radiating unit, such as e.g., an optical system. The dimming system () is adjusted to provide a constant electromagnetic radiation intensity over the cross-section of the impinging electromagnetic radiation beam by providing at least two dimming units () each having a spatially variable position-dependent dimming behavior, such that the degree of dimming for the whole cross-section can be chosen to be a fixed selectable dimming factor. The dimming units () may be based on spatially variable position-dependent dimming devices based on transparent substrates having a coating with a position-dependent varying transmission/reflection coefficient, on spatially variable position-dependent diffusing devices or on polarizer devices.
