A gland packing includes a gland packing body made of expanded graphite. The gland packing body has a cylindrical shape, and has a plurality of layers formed in a radial direction. The gland packing body has first and second surfaces, which are both end surfaces in an axial direction. The gland packing further includes an annular first sheet portion made of expanded graphite, an annular second sheet portion made of expanded graphite, an annular first porous member, and an annular second porous member. The first sheet portion is arranged on the first surface. The second sheet portion is arranged on the second surface. The first porous member is arranged on the first sheet portion. The second porous member is arranged on the second sheet portion.

Gland packing and packing structure

A gland packing provided in a fluid apparatus such as a pump and compressed in an axial direction so as to prevent penetration leakage of a fluid is provided. The gland packing has a packing base materialof a predetermined length including a band-like flat braidbraided by moving a plurality of yarnsalong one track K. The band-like packing base materialis shaped into a ring by abutting longitudinal endsandof the packing base materialso that a width direction thereof is parallel with a packing axial direction, and is then compressed in the axial direction, whereby the packing base materialis overlappedly folded in a packing axial direction, with a longitudinal direction of the packing base materialas a direction of folding lines

Gland packing and packing set

A yarn which is configured by using expanded graphite and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTEE) is provided while improving the yarn so that the expanded graphite functioning as a core member is not exposed and it can be simply produced. The yarn is formed by: forming a base member configured by enveloping an expanded graphite sheet member with a PTEE film, in a state where the PTEE film and the expanded graphite sheet member are aligned with each other in longitudinal direction; and twisting the base member. The base member has an approximately circular sectional shape, and is configured by enveloping the expanded graphite sheet member having a rounded sectional shape with the PTEE film which is rounded in a pipe-like shape.
