A pillar construction includes: a pillar including a pillar inner and a pillar outer forming a closed cross section; a retractor disposed at a lower portion of the pillar; and a first reinforcement member and a second reinforcement member disposed at the pillar outer, the first reinforcement member being disposed at a position coinciding with the pillar outer in a side view, the second reinforcement member being disposed higher than the retractor. The first reinforcement member and the second reinforcement member are disposed apart from each other in a vehicle up-down direction. The pillar outer includes a first deformation part which is provided between the first reinforcement member and the second reinforcement member and deformable upon input of side collision load.

Pillar construction

A vehicle body () includes: a center pillar (); a side sill; and a side outer panel (), in which the side outer panel () includes: a base portion () that swells from the outer surface, enters the side sill () from the center pillar (), and forms a front ridge (), and a rear ridge (); a front side sill portion () that extends in a front-rear direction in front of the base portion () and forms a first groove () between the front side sill portion () and the base portion (); and a rear side sill portion () that extends in the front-rear direction behind the base portion () and forms a second groove () between the rear side sill portion () and the base portion ().

Vehicle body

A vehicle body lateral section structure () is provided with a center pillar inner (), a center pillar stiffener (), a partitioning member (), a filling material, a center pillar outer (), and a sound insulation member (). The center pillar stiffener forms a first closed cross-sectional portion () together with the center pillar inner. The partitioning member partitions a filling space () communicating with a first filling port and a second filling port inside the first closed cross-sectional portion. The center pillar outer forms a second closed cross-sectional portion () together with the center pillar stiffener. The sound insulation member is provided inside the second closed cross-sectional portion and foams when heated.

Vehicle body lateral section structure

A vehicle body structureformed a first ridgeline, a second ridgeline, and a concave portionin a roof side inner panelof a roof side rail. The first ridgeline continuously extends from a front end to a rear end of the roof side rail so that a load input from a front and rear direction of a vehicle body is able to be transmitted to the roof side rail. A second ridgeline includes a bent portionwhich is recessed toward a first ridgeline to form a concave portion at a position matching a roof arch connection portion in the front and rear direction of the vehicle body. An upper end portion of a center pillaris joined to the concave portion.

Vehicle body structure

A lateral section structure () of a vehicle body is equipped with a center pillar () which extends in a vertical direction and in which an outer panel () and an inner panel () are joined. An opening section () into which a seatbelt component () is inserted is formed in the inner panel. The outer panel has a lower section and an upper section. The lower section forms a lower portion of the outer panel. The upper section overlaps the lower section and extends upward. A lower end of the upper section is inclined upward or downward in a forward-rearward direction of a vehicle body along a lower end of an overlapping section in which the lower section and the upper section overlap and are joined to each other, and is disposed at a position at which the lower end of the upper section faces the opening section.

Provided is a vehicle body side structure capable of improving electrodeposition coating of a center pillar, ensuring sealability of door seal members, and further ensuring strength and rigidity. The vehicle body side structure includes front flange bulging portions and rear flange bulging portions on a center pillar inner panel. Further, a center pillar stiffener has front through holes and rear through holes communicating with a first closed cross section. A center pillar outer panel includes front and rear step passages and that communicate the front and rear through holes with a second closed cross section. The center pillar stiffeners is overlapped with the front bulging portions and the rear flange bulging portions so as to form front gap passages and rear gap passages that communicate the first closed cross section with the outside.
