UV curing hydrophilic coating compositions and methods to make and use the compositions are disclosed. The compositions include about 40 wt. percent to about 95 wt. percent of a vinyl ether compound, an epoxide compound, a compound with vinyl ether and epoxy functional groups, or any combination thereof; about 0.1 wt. percent to about 40 wt. percent of at least one polar diluent; about 40 wt. percent or less of at least one non-polar diluent; and about 0.5 wt. percent to about 12 wt. percent of at least one photoinitiator.

UV curable hydrophilic coatings

A coating for an ink jet printhead front face, wherein the coating comprises an oleophobic low adhesion coating having high thermal stability as indicated by less than about 15 percent weight loss when heated to up to 300&#xb0; C., and wherein a drop of ultra-violet (UV) gel ink or a drop of solid ink exhibits a contact angle of greater than about 50&#xb0; and sliding angle of less than about 30&#xb0; with a surface of the coating, wherein the coating maintains the contact angle and sliding angle after the coating has been exposed to a temperature of at least 260&#xb0; C. for at least 30 minutes.

Process for thermally stable oleophobic low adhesion coating for inkjet printhead front face

In accordance with the invention, there are image forming apparatuses, fuser members, and methods of making fuser members. The fuser member can include a substrate and an electrospun layer disposed over the substrate, the electrospun layer including a structure selected from a group consisting of a fiber-on-fiber structure, a bead-on-fiber structure, and a pop-corn structure, wherein the fuser member includes a top surface that is both hydrophobic and oleophobic.

Fabrication of large area, textured oil-less fusing/fixing surfaces by electrospinning technique

A method of making an ink jet print head front face or nozzle plate having a textured superoleophobic surface that prevents undesirable drooling, wetting and/or adhesion of the ink on the print head. The textured surface includes a rim formed around the nozzle. A method for forming an ink jet printhead can include interposing a coverlay between a press plate of a press and an ink jet printhead aperture plate assembly, such that the coverlay physically contacts an anti-wetting coating on a surface of the aperture plate assembly. With the coverlay contacting the anti-wetting coating, a force is applied to the aperture plate assembly using the press. The coverlay is separated from the aperture plate assembly, wherein the coverlay includes a layer having an elastic modulus of at least 0.5 GPa.

Thermally stable oleophobic low adhesion coating for inkjet printhead face

A process and result for forming an electrically relaxable coating composite for an electrophotographic imaging component includes providing a non-functionalized soluble carbon nanotube complex, and mixing a polymer material with the soluble carbon nanotube complex. The electrically relaxable coating composite exhibits resistivity in the range or about 10to about 10ohm-cm.

Electrically resistive coatings/layers using soluble carbon nanotube complexes in polymers

A digital flexography system includes an imaging member with a charge generating layer formed from an array of addressable pixels and a charge transport layer thereon. Ink is delivered to the imaging member using a simple rough donor roll, rather than an anilox roll. Instead of controlling the amount of ink delivered using the anilox roll, the amount of ink is controlled by the pixels on the imaging member.

Apparatus for digital flexographic printing

An approach is provided for contact leveling an image applied to a media substrate. The approach involves causing, at least in part, a contact leveling member comprising at least one textured surface configured to repel one or more inks to level an image applied to the media substrate. The at least one textured surface may comprise one or more micro/nano structures configured to cause, at least in part, the at least one textured surface to have an ink contact angle greater than 100&#xb0; and a sliding angle less than 30&#xb0; when the at least one textured surface contacts the one or more inks.

Method and apparatus for leveling a printed image and preventing image offset

Described is a process for producing an inkjet printhead comprising an aperture face having an oleophobic surface. The process includes forming an aperture plate by disposing a silicon layer on an aperture plate; using photolithography to create a textured pattern on an outer surface of the silicon layer; and chemically modifying the textured surface by disposing a conformal, oleophobic coating on the textured surface. The oleophobic aperture plate may be used as a front face surface for an inkjet printhead.

The textured surface comprises one or more gaps configured for holding a gas. A receptacle is positioned in fluid communication with the textured surface. Both an inlet and nozzle are in fluid communication with the receptacle. The device includes a heater mechanism configured to expand a gas in the one or more gaps so as to sufficiently increase pressure in the receptacle to force liquid through the nozzle.
