In a power supply apparatus that is so configured as to produce from an input voltage an output voltage Vo within a predetermined permissible variation range, the output voltage Vo is so controlled as to decrease within the permissible variation range as the output current Io increases. This configuration offers an output voltage with an improved transient characteristic against an abrupt variation in the output current and simultaneously permits reduction of the power consumed when the output current increases.

Power supply apparatus

A switching regulator includes a first switching regulator corresponding to a master channel, and a second switching regulator corresponding to a slave channel. The first switching regulator generates first output voltage Voutby a constant on-time system in which on-time is constant. On the other hand, the second switching regulator monitors a first switching signal and a second on-time control circuit determines on-time of a second switching signal in accordance with lapse time from the rising time of the first switching signal to the rising time of a second switching signal.

A DC/DC converter includes a switching element which is opened and closed to supply power from an input power supply Vthrough a coil to an output terminal, which is connected to a load, and to adjust the voltage at the output terminal. The DC/DC converter also includes a coil current detection resistor arranged to detect a coil current, a smoothing capacitor connected to the load side of the coil current detection resistor and arranged to smooth the voltage at the output terminal, a reference current value control circuit arranged to detect the voltage on the coil side of the coil current detection resistor to control a reference current value of the coil current, a clock generator arranged to generate a reference clock, and a feedback circuit arranged to close the switching element in synchrony with the reference clock and to open the switching element when the coil current exceeds the reference current value.

DC/DC converter

A power supply circuit relating to the present invention comprises a differential amplifier for feeding out a voltage as a control voltage in accordance with a difference between a feedback voltage commensurate with an output voltage and a reference voltage, an output current control element for feeding out an output current in accordance with the control voltage fed thereto from the differential amplifier, an output line by way of which the output current is supplied to a load, a feedback line by way of which a voltage on the output line is fed back as the feedback voltage to the differential amplifier, the feedback line connected to the output line, and a sink current generating circuit, connected between the feedback line and ground, for generating a sink current by which the control voltage fed to the output current control element is raised to a predetermined value.

Power supply circuit

A motor driving apparatus which includes a pair of field-effect transistors connected in series between a first supply voltage and a second supply voltage lower than the first supply voltage, an output smoothing circuit connected to a node between the two field-effect transistors, a driver for controlling on/off states of the field-effect transistors according to an input signal, and a detector for detecting on/off states of body diodes attached respectively to the field-effect transistors. Only after either of the body diodes is detected being on are the field-effect transistors respectively turned on to produce an output corresponding to the input signal so as to eventually produce a desired output voltage from the first supply voltage.

Motor driving apparatus incorporating switch device driving apparatus

A power supply circuit relating to the present invention comprises a differential amplifier for feeding out a voltage as a control voltage in accordance with a difference between a feedback voltage commensurate with an output voltage and a reference voltage, an output current control element for feeding out an output current in accordance with the control voltage fed thereto from the differential amplifier, an output line by way of which the output current is supplied to a load, a feedback line by way of which a voltage on the output line is fed back as the feedback voltage to the differential amplifier, the feedback line connected to the output line, and a clamping circuit for maintaining the control voltage so as not drop below a predetermined value.

A method of fabricating a semiconductor integrated circuit device is provided. The device includes a protection circuit that connects to a terminal and has a protection diode and a current mirror circuit. The current mirror circuit includes first and second transistors having bases thereof connected together and emitters thereof connected together, so that emitters are connected to an anode of the protection diode. A method includes forming the anode of the protection diode; forming a cathode of the protection diode to surround the anode; forming a collector of the first transistor to surround about a half of the anode within a region surrounded by the cathode; forming a collector of the second transistor to surround about another half of the anode; and forming the bases of the first and second transistors as a common base substantially parallel to an edge of the collectors of the first and second transistors.

Method of fabricating semiconductor integrated circuit device having protection circuit

The power supply unit is provided with a power supply circuit adapted to generate an output voltage in accord with an instruction voltage, an output condenser Co connected to the output end of the power supply circuit, and an auxiliary output voltage setting circuit adapted to compare the instruction voltage and the output voltage and to cause the output condenser to discharge its electric charge when the instruction voltage becomes lower than the output voltage. Because of the auxiliary output voltage setting circuit, the power supply circuit quickly generates an output voltage in accord with the instruction voltage if the instruction voltage is lowered.

Electric power supply unit having improved output voltage response

In a DC/DC converter having a plurality of DC/DC converters, to prevent faults in the circuit and the circuit elements constituting it even when the balance of current limiting operation among the individual DC/DC converters is disturbed due to individual and temperature-related variations in the characteristics of the circuit elements, the output currents of the individual DC/DC converters are detected and added together, and are limited individually so that their sum does not exceed a predetermined level of current.

A switching device driving apparatus has a driver for controlling, according to an input signal, the on/off states of a pair of field-effect transistors connected in series between a first supply voltage and a second supply voltage lower than the first supply voltage, and a detector for detecting the on/off states of body diodes attached respectively to the field-effect transistors. Only after either of the body diodes is detected being on are the field-effect transistors respectively turned on to produce an output corresponding to the input signal. This makes it possible to securely prevent the two FETs from being turned on simultaneously independently of their characteristics and type.
