For manufacturing a light-guiding plate and a key module having the light-guiding plate, a mold is prepared first. Then, a material having high light transmittance is injected into the mold. After the plastic material is formed, the mold is released, so that the plastic material is formed into a sheet-like light-guiding plate, and one surface of the light-guiding plate is formed with a plurality of light-guiding portions thereon. The light-guiding plate is disposed in the key module of an electronic device. The light generated by light-emitting elements within the electronic device is introduced from the front end of a substrate of the light-guiding plate, and the light is refracted by the light-guiding portion to a corresponding key, thereby to display the numeral or pattern of the surface of a key cap of the key.

Method for manufacturing a light-guiding plate and key module having the light-guiding plate

A key module with a multi-layer light guiding structure includes a plurality of keys, light guiding structure and a plurality of light blocks corresponding to the light guiding structure. The light guiding structure includes a plurality of light guiding plates. Each of the light guiding plate includes at least one light guiding strip corresponding to specific keys, which are staggered to each other or corresponding to each other. The light guiding strip is provided with a color layer. An electronic device using the key module individually or selectively lights light emitting elements for each layer of the light guiding plates. Therefore, different lights are emitted from the light guiding strips or a mixed light is produced from the light guiding strips to illuminate the keys. The keys have lights of different color to manifest symbols or alphabets on the keys.

Key module with multi-layer light guiding structure

A light guide structure installed in a keypad includes a light guide plate and a plurality of light emitting components. The light guide plate has a plurality of light guiding areas, each having a center light guiding circle with a plurality of light guide rings extended outward. The light guiding area and the adjacent light guiding area form light guide rings connected with an intersection, and the center light guiding circle and the light guide rings have a plurality of arc light guiding particles. The light emitting component is installed under the light guide plate and at the corresponding center position of the center light guiding circle. If the light emitting component is lit, light is projected onto the light guide plate and refracted by the light guiding particles to produce a light transmission effect for showing a number or a figure on the surface of the push button.

Light guide structure and keypad having the same

A keystroke module for use with a light guiding plate includes a contacting and controlling layer, a light guiding plate and a light source. The contacting and controlling layer has a pressing side and a contacting and light guiding side. The light guiding plate is arranged under the contacting and light guiding side of the contacting and controlling layer and further includes a light auxiliary layer and a light inducting layer, which is a soft piece body having a reflecting side, on which plural light guiding parts are arranged, while the auxiliary light layer is a hard transparent piece body that is laminated correspondingly above the reflecting side of the light inducting layer. In addition, the light source is arranged at one side of the light guiding plate for irradiating light from the light auxiliary layer, then the light being reflected out by the reflecting side and the light guiding parts of the light inducting layer; thereby, it is possible to prevent the components contacted with the light inducting layer of the light guiding plate from easy wearing and permanent deforming, and the using lifetime of the light guiding plate or the keystroke module may be prolonged significantly.
