A cellular phone has a black-and-white LCD that displays characters and communication information and a color LCD that displays an image. The image and the characters are displayed on the separate LCDs. Thus, the characters are not superimposed on the image, and they are easy to see. Materials transparent to terahertz waves are very limited, and it is difficult to obtain the required performance by selecting the material. Further, it is also difficult to search for a novel material. Therefore, by letting a known material transparent to terahertz waves have a photonic crystal structure and controlling the structure, an optical waveguide having the required properties is provided. An optical waveguide for propagation of far-infrared radiation in the terahertz region, which optical waveguide is made of a fluorinated amorphous polymer. Particularly preferred is a polymer having a fluorinated aliphatic ring structure in its main chain, obtained by cyclopolymerization of a fluorinated monomer having at least two polymerizable double bonds.

A cellular phone is connected to a portable printer which uses an instant print film through connectors, and the printer prints an image according to image data stored in the cellular phone. The cellular phone can display the image to be printed on its LCD. The user can input information for the printing with push buttons of the cellular phone, and display the information on the LCD. Thus, the portable printer does not need an LCD and push buttons, and therefore the printer is small, light and inexpensive.

Printing light beams from a printing head that is driven based on image data are used for recording a latent image in a predetermined exposure area on an instant film. The instant film is exposed through an exposure opening formed through a case of a film pack. The printing head projects the printing light beams linearly along a main scan direction while moving in a sub scan direction perpendicular to the main scan direction. An illumination range of the printing light beams is determined to be wider than the exposure area in the main and sub scan directions, in consideration of clearances between the case and the instant film. So the entire exposure area is exposed even where the instant film deviates inside the case. A light-shielding housing for covering up a moving range of the printing head in a light-tight fashion is formed integrally with a pack loading chamber for loading the film pack.

Portable communication terminal with multiple displays

Image data obtained through an image sensor is written in a memory. When printing an image, a printing head is driven in accordance with the image data read out from the memory in a line sequential fashion, and is synchronously moved in a sub scan direction, thereby exposing the instant film line by line. The image appears on the exposed instant film as a developing solution is developed by developing rollers while the instant film is advanced out through the developing rollers. Alternatively, the printing head is driven synchronously with the instant film being advanced. Thereby an image is printed at one sub scanning without the need for moving the printing head. The printing head is provided with an array of three color light emitting elements, and three color light beams are simultaneously projected onto the instant film. The electronic still camera is automatically set in an imaging mode when a power switch is turned on, and is switched to a display mode or a print mode as soon as a display mode key or a print mode key is operated. After being switched to the display mode, the electronic still camera is quickly switched to the imaging mode if only a shutter release button is operated.

A beam scanning printer which includes a light mixing device for mixing green, red and blue rays radiated from three LEDs with each other and directing the mixed beam to a common converging optical system along a common optical axis is provided. Through the common converging optical system, a beam spot that is common to the three colors is formed. The common beam spot is scanned through a polygonal mirror across a photosensitive material in a main scanning direction as the photosensitive material is moved in a sub scanning direction transverse to the main scanning direction, to record a full-color image on the photosensitive material.
