A television receiver monitor intended to be built into a wall and used in connection with an audio/video entertainment center can be adapted to provide various visual aspects corresponding to the control capabilities of the user. When only a bezel surrounding the screen is visible, all controls are made through a control center unit of the audio/video entertainment center, so that the user must have a high degree of knowledge about the overall system, whereas when the bezel and a control panel are visible, the user need not extensively involve himself with the audio/video entertainment center except to control the audio portion of the program. When confronted with an unsophisticated or underage user, a speaker grill is provided in addition to the bezel and control panel, so that no interaction with the audio/video entertainment center is required by the user in order to enjoy a video and audio program.

A recording media storage and player unit, including a playback unit for replaying data retrieved from a selected one of several stored recording media, a communication link for obtaining expanded information associated with the recording medium from an external database, a memory storage location for storing the expanded information locally within the recording media storage and player unit; and a display for displaying the expanded information when the data retrieved from the recording medium is played back. The invention relates to an entertainment system having a playback device for retrieving data from a recording medium and for generating a signal corresponding to the data, wherein the playback device includes a transparent door which covers the recording medium. The system further includes a speaker for converting the signal into acoustical energy and a display device for displaying operational information regarding the system, such as the track number of the selection being played back, time remaining, track title, volume level, the sound and/or CD play mode which has been selected and others, on the door.

A remote control including a plurality of function indicators made of a semitransparent material that allow light to pass through, a light source, and a light pipe placed behind the function indicators, the structural combination allowing the remote control to be operated in a darkened room. The structural combination is a layered arrangement of a printed circuit board that includes a group of light-emitting-diodes functioning as the light source, a number of function indicators arranged in one flexible layer, and a light pipe which is sandwiched between the printed circuit board and the layer of function indicators. The light pipe is made of transparent plastic and includes a group of bevelled recesses to receive the group of light-emitting-diodes, thereby distributing the light emitted by the light-emitting-diodes uniformly.

An adjustable, isolation mounting system for center channel loudspeakers has a pair of front mounting feet and a single rear mounting foot extending from a bottom surface of a loudspeaker enclosure. The rear mounting foot is adjustable in height to provide mounting flexibility and stability, and also to adjust the listening axis from the loudspeaker to the listener for optimum sound quality. The rear mounting foot also has a swivel foot member mounted on its bottom end to provide a stable support on irregular mounting surfaces. The front mounting feet are made of a vibration isolating material to isolate vibrations of the loudspeaker enclosure from the mounting surface on which the loudspeaker is supported. A vibration isolating pad is bonded to a recessed bottom surface of the swivel foot member on the rear mounting foot to further isolate vibrations of the loudspeaker enclosure from the mounting surface. The rear mounting foot is located at approximately two-thirds of the depth of the loudspeaker enclosure so that a relatively large loudspeaker can be placed on a narrow mounting surface.
