The present invention relates to a radial roller bearing assemblies. More specifically, the invention relates to radial roller bearing assemblies including an outer ring having radially inwardly directed stop flanges, a cage comprising a pair of side rings and webs connecting the side rings, circumferentially spaced to define pockets for rolling elements, each of the side rings having radially projecting segments located at diametrically opposed locations wherein the distance (Dc) between the highest point on the segmental projection of one of the cage side rings and the diametrically opposite point of the same cage side ring is in a predetermined relation to the diameter (Dk) of the bore of the stop flange so that when the axial centers of the cage and ring are coincident, the segmental projections confront the inner radial faces of the stop flanges.

Radial roller bearing assembly

A roller bearing including inner and outer races defining an interior space therebetween, and a plurality of cylindrical rollers between the races, each race having opposite axial end surfaces, a seal situated at each end of the bearing, each seal including a loosely fitting flange ring extending radially between the races, the ring having an inner axial surface facing the axial end surface of the inner race, thereby defining facing end surfaces, the ring and the inner race respectively having bore surfaces, the inner race having at least one hole extending generally radially from the bore thereof to the interior space for supply lubricant to the interior space, and pressure equalizing passages communicating the interior space with the exterior of the bearing, the openings comprising at least one passage in one of the facing surfaces and at least one axial passage axially traversing the ring.

A bearing unit consists of a radial bearing 1 and an axial bearing 2, the outer ring 3 of the radial bearing 1 being extended at one end in the axial direction to hold the axial bearing 2. So that the bearing unit is able to absorb large radial and axial forces and is reliably sealed off against contamination from the outside, the outer ring 3 of the radial bearing 1 consists of a solid piece of material, and the extension 3.sup.a of the outer ring 3 is provided, starting from the end surface 4, with a bore 4.sup.a to hold the axial bearing 2, this bore being sealed by a bearing housing cover 6, which rests against the end surface 2.sup.a of the axial bearing 2 and is connected to the outer ring 3.

Bearing assembly comprising a radial and axial bearing

Roller bearing cage, especially for cylindrical roller bearings or needle bearings, which presses the rolling elements elastically in the radial direction against a raceway to prevent rippling, characterized in that, at least at one point (6), the cage (1) has notches (8) proceeding from the end surfaces (10) and a connecting part (11), which is rigid in the peripheral direction and which is located between the notches; and in that, in the peripheral direction, a recess (9), extending approximately across the width of the cage, is provided on one or both sides next to notches (8), this recess forming the boundaries of elastic sections (12).

Roller bearing cage

A pocket cage formed from a deformable sheet has a pair of side rings connected by a plurality of webs, each web having a projection comprising a folding of web material formed by bending at a plurality of bending points. At least the material in the middle of each web has reduced resistance to bending relative to the material in areas of each web other than the bending points. This folding is produced by applying opposing pressing forces on the front faces of the side rings using a tool. By placement of the middle bending point on either the outer surface or the bore surface of the web, the projection can be suitably selected to be radially inwardly or outwardly directed respectively.

Pocket cage

In a rolling bearing wherein rolling elements radially engage a bearing ring, a separate flange ring is positioned to inhibit axial movement of the rolling elements. The flange ring is held axially and radially by a retaining ring having a first arm that extends into an annular groove of the bearing ring and a second arm that extends axially outwardly of the bearing from the first arm, to fill the intermediate space between the bearing ring and the flange ring. The end of the last mentioned arm is bent radially inwardly to axially engage the end face of the flange ring.

Rolling bearing having separate restraining ring for holding rolling

A one-piece cage for a rolling bearing assembly made of an elastically deformable, synthetic material. The cage comprises a pair of spaced annular members of a predetermined uniform radial height, a plurality of axially extending webs between the annular members and of a maximum radial dimension only slightly greater than the radial height of the annular members. The webs are circumferentially spaced to define a plurality of pockets for rolling elements and have arcuate confronting faces conforming generally to the contour of the rolling elements. Each web has inner and outer projections adjacent inner and outer end portions which are spaced apart a distance less than the diameter of the rolling elements to retain the rolling elements in the pockets and provide a certain amount of flexibility to permit assembly of the rolling elements in the pockets from either radial direction. By the particular configuration of the webs and the annular members, the rollers are encapsulated about substantially their entire periphery to provide for good guidance characteristics and to this end the pitch circle of the rolling elements lies in a circular plane disposed approximately midway of the radial height of the annular members. By this construction only a small portion of the rolling elements projects radially beyond the inner and outer circumferential edges of the annular members.
