In a control method for an internal combustion engine () which has a fuel tank (), a fuel vapor storage device () for storing the escaping fuel vapors and a controllable valve () for adjusting the stream of fuel vapors fed to the intake tract () during a period of tank ventilation, the valve () is controlled in such a way according to the method that the stream of fuel vapors varies during the tank ventilation period. The regeneration of the fuel vapor storage device is intended to be improved thereby.

Control method for an internal combustion engine

A device for delivering fuel has a fuel delivery unit placed inside a fuel tank and which consists of a swirl pot with a fuel pump situated therein for delivering fuel out via a flow line to an internal combustion engine, and with a ventilation system located inside the fuel tank and serves to withdraw fuel vapors from the fuel tank. This ventilation system consists of ventilation lines and a liquid trap for precipitating fuel. The ventilation lines are arranged with one end in the upper area of the fuel tank, and, with the other end, lead into the liquid trap. An activated charcoal filter located downstream from the liquid trap has a connection to the atmosphere. The liquid trap and the activated charcoal filter are situated next and at the height of the swirl pot. At least the liquid trap is mechanically connected to the swirl pot.

Device for delivering fuel out of a fuel tank

The subject of the present invention is a method and a device for the separation of fuel-vapor/air mixtures into their components, in particular for purification of vapor mixtures, such as occur in fuel tanks of motor vehicles. A preseparator is arranged between the fuel tank and the filter. In the preseparator, the hydrocarbons are separated from the mixture and are supplied to the fuel tank again. The remaining mixture is supplied to the filter.

Method for separating fuel vapour-air mixtures and device for carrying out said method

The invention relates to a ventilation device for fuel tanks, wherein the ventilation device comprises a compensator reservoir arranged in the interior of the fuel tank and at least two ventilation lines. The ventilation lines run from below the upper tank wall to the compensator reservoir and extend in the latter toward an opposite tank wall. The apparatus according to the invention is particularly well suited under all static and dynamic stresses for ventilating fuel tanks.

Ventilation device for a fuel tank

A fuel tank for a motor vehicle comprising a wall composed of two shells arranged one above the other. The outer shell of the wall preferably has an inlet orifice and an outlet orifice. A filter element is arranged in front of the outlet orifice. Scavenging air from the inlet orifice thereby passes first into a gap between the shells and subsequently to a filter element. As a result, fuel vapors can no longer diffuse through the wall and pollute the environment.

Fuel tank

A fuel tank for a motor vehicle, having a wall ( ) which is manufactured from plastic, in particular by injection molding, is provided on its inside with a permeation barrier ( ). The permeation barrier ( ) is manufactured from a material which is virtually impenetrable for fuel vapors. The permeation barrier ( ) is composed of shell parts ( ) which are welded to one another.

Fuel tank for a motor vehicle

In a method of producing a fuel tank from plastic, a heating element is located between two shell parts to be welded to one another. When the shell parts are pressed together, the heating element melts into the plastic and produces a weld that provides a fuel-resistant seal. The fuel tank subsequently has a particularly exact shape.

Method of producing a plastic component and fuel tank for a motor vehicle

According to the invention, in the case of a multifunctional valve for a vehicle container, comprising a first opening which can be closed by means of a first closing body as a function of the filling level of the container and is intended for ventilating the tank as it is being filled, a second opening which can be closed by means of a second closing body and is intended for ventilating the tank during operation, the two closing bodies automatically going into their closing position if the vehicle takes up an excess sloping position or undergoes a roll-over action, the two closing bodies ( ) can be brought into the closing position by a respectively assigned first or second float body ( ) which are of lower density than the medium in the container, and in the event of a roll-over action, a mechanical device (ball ) acts upon the two float bodies ( ) to counter their buoyancy and keep the closing bodies ( ) in the closing position.

Multifunctional valve for a vehicle tank

A fuel tank (,) has an ejector pump (,) arranged inside it. This ejector pump (,) is preloaded against an inner wall (,) of the fuel tank (,) by means of a flexurally elastic supporting arm (,) and is thus fixed. This allows the ejector pump (,) to be inserted into the interior of the fuel tank (,) without problems through an opening (,) together with a fuel feed unit (,). This considerably simplifies the fitting of the ejector pump (,) and, in particular, there is no need for another fitting opening in the fuel tank (,) to enable the ejector pump (,) to be fixed.

In the case of a filling pipe for a fuel tank a branching element is arranged in a section of the filling pipe. The flow of the inflowing fuel preferably runs along an outer wall of the filling pipe, so that a subflow is in each case conducted directly to the antisurge tower through a lower cross-sectional area. Larger volume flows, which completely fill the cross section, pass for the most part directly into the fuel tank. By this means, a sufficient basic supply of the antisurge tower is ensured irrespective of the volume flow produced during filling.

Filling pipe

A device for supplying an internal combustion engine (,) of a motor vehicle with fuel has a return line (,) which is passed into a fuel tank (,) and has a wall made of a material of high thermal conductivity. The return line (,) is arranged within a ventilation duct (,). Cooling air is conveyed through the ventilation duct (,) to the return line (,). This is a simple means of limiting the maximum temperature of the fuel in the fuel tank (,).

Device for supplying an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle with fuel

In the case of a filling device for a motor vehicle fuel tank, a distributing element extends from a filling nozzle to an anti-surge tower of the motor vehicle. When there is a low volume flow of fuel in the filling nozzle, the distributing element supplies all of the fuel to the anti-surge tower. When there is a large volume flow, the greater part of the fuel passes directly into the fuel tank. It is thereby ensured that during an initial filling or emergency filling with a jerrycan, virtually all of the fuel passes into the anti-surge tower.
