The invention relates to polymers whose water solubility may be triggered by changes in pH, salt concentration, concentration of surfactant or a combination of both. The polymer is a copolymer or terpolymer containing from 2 to 60 mole percent of an amine functionality that has been neutralized with a fixed acid. Specifically films formed from these polymers will be insoluble at a higher pH, but will become soluble at a lower pH. The polymers are also insoluble at a higher salt concentration, but become soluble at a lower salt concentration. The polymers can be used to coat or encapsulate active ingredients, that are released based on changes in the environment, such as in the rinse cycle of a dishwasher or laundry washing machine.

The invention provides an aqueous bleaching solution for substrate treatment comprising a source of oxidant and a suspended polymer matrix having a plurality of optically functional particles associated with one or more copolymers present in the polymer matrix. The plurality of optically functional particles are associated with the copolymer during polymerization of at least one hydrophobic and at least one hydrophilic monomer so as to form a polymer matrix useful to impart an aqueous bleaching solution with optically functional properties providing a benefit to the solutions during storage, use and application to substrates for treatment. In accordance with various embodiments of the invention, the suspended polymer matrix forms a substantially stable dispersion of the optically functional particles in the aqueous bleaching solution, and provides compositions, methods and kits for employing aqueous bleaching solutions having optically functional properties that are maintained over substantially long storage times.

A glass adhesion composition containing a copolymer having an acid and a substituted amide, silanol, or amine oxide functionality. The substituted amide, silanol, or amine oxide functionality provide excellent adhesion of the copolymer to glass, silica, sand and other silicon-based substances. The copolymer is useful as a fiberglass binder, and also useful in providing protective coatings on glass sheets. A fiberglass sizing composition is also provided having a copolymer that includes at least one acid group derived from at least one acid monomer, a hydrophobic comonomer, and a crosslinker. Additives can be added to the compositions to provide other functionality such as corrosion inhibitors, hydrophobic additives, additives for reducing leaching of glass, release agents, acids for lowering pH, anti-oxidants/reducing agents, emulsifiers, dyes, pigments, oils, fillers, colorants, curing agents, anti-migration aids, biocides, plasticizers, waxes, anti-foaming agents, coupling agents, thermal stabilizers, flame retardants, enzymes, wetting agents, and lubricants.

A self-stabilizing dispersion composition having a copolymer having at least one polymerizable acid-containing moiety, wherein the at least one acid-containing moiety is at least partially neutralized before or during polymerization, and at least one hydrophobic moiety. A process for producing such compositions is also provided, as well as a process for encapsulating water-insoluble actives in such copolymers.

The present invention is related to a concentrated surfactant composition containing a hydrophobically modified polymer and/or a hydrotrope. The addition of the polymer or hydrotrope to the concentrated surfactant changes the physical properties of the concentrated surfactant, making it easier to process.

The polyvinylpyrridinium derivatives inhibit dye transfer in detergent compositions having a high level of anionic surfactants without adversely affecting stain or soil removal or soil redeposition.

The present invention relates to novel catalysts for use with a fiberglass non-woven binder. The catalyst can be a Lewis acid, an organic acid salt, a free-radical generator, or a mixture thereof. The catalyst provides stronger bonding, increased crosslinking density, reduced curing times, and reduced curing temperatures. Fiberglass mats made with polymer binder compositions containing the catalyst exhibit both flexibility and elasticity, allowing the mats to be compressed for storage, yet return to original thickness once the compressive forces are removed. Formaldehyde-free wood composites, such as plywood and fiberboard, may also be produced with polymer binder compositions containing the catalyst.

The present invention relates to a detergent composition having from 3 to 75 percent by weight of at least one surfactant; and from 0.01 to 5 percent by weight percent of a copolymer composed of from 25 to 75 mole percent of at least one amine-functional monomer, and from 75 to 25 mole percent of at least one hydrophobic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, wherein said amine-functional monomer is not a quaternized amine, and wherein said copolymer has been at least partially neutralized.
