An arrangement for withdrawing particles of material removed by a working tool of a machine tool during a machining process, comprises a working frame adapted to support a machine tool, casing forming an at least partially closed chamber adapted to surround the working tool so as to accommodate the particles of material removed during machining process, port elements communicating with the chamber and adapted to be connected to a suction source so as to aspirate the particles from the chamber, and mounting elements for mounting the casing on the working frame so that the chamber surrounds the working tool when the machine tool is supported by the working frame.

A hammer drill has a chuck forming a tool receptacle defining a chuck axis and provided with a tool-holding element radially displaceable into a position protruding into the tool receptacle. The tool has a shank defining a tool axis receivable axially in the receptacle. This shank is formed with a radially outwardly opening recess closed at both axial ends and shaped to receive the tool-holding element, and with an axially extending groove separate from the recess and opening axially at the end of the shank. This groove has at least one flank extending substantially radially of the tool axis. A rotary-entrainment formation in the receptacle is formed with at least one side flatly engageable with the flank for maximum force transmission and minimum wear.

A hole saw for use in a hand drill has a cup centered on a rotation axis and having a rim centered on this axis and provided with a plurality of teeth. This cup has a shaft extending backwardly along the axis and adapted to be received in a drill chuck so that when the shaft and cup are rotated about the axis the teeth can sink into a workpiece and cut a large-diameter hole therein. The cup is formed at its base with a bore lying on the axis and opening into the cup and with a passage extending non-axially from the bore to the outer surface of the shaft. A pilot bit has a shank non-rotatably received in this bore and a tip extending axially beyond the rim of the cup so that this pilot bit serves to center the drill accessory during the start of a hole-making operation. A collar is fitted to the outside of the drill shank over the passage and is connected to aspirating means so as to aspirate particles from inside the cup. Such aspiration can be aided after the start of a drilling operation by removing the drill shank from the bore, or by forming grooves in the shank or the bore for conduction of particles backwardly to the passage.

To prevent accidents due to high torque of hand tools, such as drills, and the like, which, when the tool bit stalls, may tend to twist the tool handle from the user's hand, a torque measuring element is located on the tool body at the junction of the tool body and the handle and connected to the power supply of the tool to discontinue or interrupt power supply thereto upon sensing of deformation between the tool body and the handle thereof due to excessive strain on said junction; preferably, the handle is joined to the tool body by a section of material of reduced cross-sectional size to accentuate any deformation between the tool handle and the body.
