This invention relates to a method of and means for conveying and measuring gases for gas analysis operations by means of a pump, which conveys the gas with constant volume per working cycle. The means for this purpose, as used in connection with gas analysis instruments, consists of a cyclically operating gas delivery pump with an electric motor drive which is connected to a frequency transmitter for pre-setting the speed of rotation.

Method of and means for conveying and measuring gases for gas analysis

In order to control noxious substances in the air, the air to be monitored is continuously drawn through an absorber. An absorber with a suction pump connected downstream is used for this purpose. A particularly small and compact device composed of an absorber and suction pump may be obtained by forming the inlet valve and outlet valve of the suction pump as O-ring disc valves and by providing the pump drive with a light barrier.

In a process for the removal of samples from flue gases or other highly concentrated exhaust gases, before the sample is removed from the main stream of exhaust gas it is diluted with a carrier gas which is free from this exhaust gas. The sample is diluted in the main stream of exhaust gas by a carrier gas introduced from outside. The diluted sample can then be analyzed in conventional gas analyzers.
