A method of manufacturing a metallic valve housing by hydroforming a tube section in a die is provided. The die includes an upper part having a stamp and a lower part having a depression. The tube section is placed in the die, filled with a liquid, and subjected to a high internal pressure. Opposite walls of the tube section in a middle portion between two tube ends is shaped in that one side of the tube section is pressed inwards transversely to the axis of the tube section by the stamp to form a concave curvature, and the opposite wall is pressed into the depression in the lower part to form a flat.

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for producing a workpiece with internal toothing, especially an internal geared wheel, by using a cup shaped preform (N) with a substantially cylindrical side wall (N) and a mandrel () with an external profile () according to the internal toothing to be produced, as well as with a forming tool which reduces the outside diameter of the cylindrical side wall during an advancing movement, as a result of which the material of the cylinder wall region flows into the external profile () of the mandrel (). In accordance with the invention, the forming tool is configured as a drawing ring () ensuring the ironing of the cylinder wall region (N) during an advancing movement and that two tool elements act upon the preform (N) during the ironing, which tool elements produce axial compressive stresses in the cylinder wall region (N) of the preform.

The invention relates to a hydromechanical clamping device having two movable die halves and two punches, a first hydraulic piston, and a second hydraulic piston. The second die half is fixed to the frame and the second punch is arranged on the second hydraulic piston. The first hydraulic cylinder is connected to a third hydraulic cylinder. The latter acts on a fourth hydraulic piston. The first hydraulic cylinder is connected to the third hydraulic cylinder, so that the pressure medium displaced from the first hydraulic cylinder during a feed movement flows into the third hydraulic cylinder and the third hydraulic piston moves the fourth hydraulic piston in the feed direction, so that pressure medium is displaced into the second hydraulic cylinder, and the requisite forming pressure can be applied to the second hydraulic piston and the punches move toward one another.

A press that includes a push rod ( ) that can be pushed downward to cut and mold miniature components, has a small size and a minimum number of components, and can be easily and precisely controlled. The push rod has a largely upwardly-facing shoulder ( ) that lies in a chamber that can receive pressured hydraulic fluid to push down the push rod. A piezoelectric actuator, or piezoactor ( ), moves a piston ( ) that lies in a pressure cylinder. One end of the pressure cylinder holds hydraulic fluid ( ), and when the piezoactor pushes the piston it pressurizes the hydraulic fluid therein. Pressured hydraulic fluid in the pressure cylinder flows through a passage ( ) to the rod chamber to press down the push rod. The cross-sectional area of the pressure cylinder is many times greater than the cross-sectional area of the push rod shoulder so slight movement of the piezoactor is magnified many times by the hydraulic fluid to move the push rod with a long stroke.

A device and method for inserting sheet bars into drawing tools provides a program controllable sheet bar inserter with a gripper which contains a plurality of suction cups or electromagnets for picking up or setting down a sheet bar. The drawing tool contains a pair of bearing faces which together clamp in the sheet bar during drawing. In order, in particular for complicated bearing faces of the deep-drawing tool, to achieve a uniformly high drawn component quality and avoid rejects due to possible displacement of the sheet bars within the drawing tool as it closes, the gripper is constructed in the form of an at least three legged gripping spider with controllable legs with which the picked-up sheet bar can be deformed in a defined manner during transportation from the picking-up location to the drawing tool and can be matched to the shape of the bearing face of the lower bearing frame. Controllable adhesion elements in the form of suction cups or electromagnets for holding tight a preformed sheet bar which has been inserted and positioned by the gripping spider are provided at a plurality of points in a countersunk fashion into the lower bearing face.

Method and device for inserting sheet bars into drawing tools

An apparatus for the simulative optimalization of the supporting of a sheet metal blank on the support frame of a deep-drawing tool includes a plurality of stands that are freely translatable and rotatable about a vertical axis on a horizontally aligned base plate. The stands are capable of being fixed on the base plate in any desired position in respect of translation and rotation. Each stand carries a mouth-like clamp which by means of appropriate lockable mountings can be turned and fastened about two horizontal pivot axes at right angels to one another, and which by means of a fastenable vertical guide can be adjusted and fastened in this vertical position on the stand. Each clamp contains on its bottom face a support part-surface by means of which a partial region of a support surface for the sheet blank can be simulated, and on its top face contains a clamp jaw translatable transversely thereto. With a sheet holder simulation apparatus of this kind the support frame for the sheet blank in a deep-drawing tool can be rapidly and inexpensively optimized.

Apparatus for the simulative optimalization of the supporting of a sheet

A drawing device in a press is proposed which serves to draw shaped sheet-metal parts. In order to achieve optimum force support of the sheet holder (6), the pressure cheek (8) is regulated in a vertically adjustable manner by a four-point control system known per se. In addition to this, vertically adjustable bolts (7) having drives (15) are provided, in order to permit a specific local application of force to the sheet holder (6). This is controlled or regulated by displacement sensors (16) and force sensors (17).
