The invention features novel systems and methods for latching a pluggable transceiver to and unlatching the pluggable transceiver from a cage. In one aspect, a pluggable transceiver includes a housing and a cam. The housing has a front end configured to couple to a transmission cable and a back end configured to be inserted into a cage. The cam is disposed on an exposed outer surface of the transceiver housing and is configured to displace a cage latch and engage a cage slot upon insertion of the transceiver housing into the cage. In another aspect, a cage includes a housing and a latch. The housing has a front end for receiving a pluggable transceiver and defines a slot for engaging a transceiver cam. The latch is disposed at the front end of the cage housing. The latch also is configured to bend outwardly from an original position in response to a force applied by the transceiver cam as the transceiver is being inserted into the cage and to resiliently return to the original position upon engagement of the transceiver cam with the slot defined in the front end of the cage housing. A data coupling system comprising the above-defined pluggable transceiver and cage also is described.

Pluggable transceiver latching mechanism

The invention pertains to housing for receiving a component which can be connected to the housing in a pluggable manner, in particular an optoelectronic transceiver, the housing having at least one pressing spring, which is deflected when the component is inserted. According to the invention it is provided that the at least one pressing spring ( ) tapers in its width in the direction of the interior of the housing. It is preferably of a trapezoidal design. Higher spring forces can be realized with it and it is ensured that a component which is plugged into the housing can be removed from the housing in a safe and reliable manner during unlocking of the housing.

Housing for receiving a component which can be connected to the housing in a pluggable manner

A connector for a plug-connected electrical component, in particular, an optoelectronic transceiver, includes a package having fastening pins for fastening the package on a printed-circuit board, the fastening pins to be connected to the board in a press-fit. Preferably, the fastening pins are U-shaped and have two resilient legs able to move toward each other. Each of the two legs has external serrations, particularly, barbs. The package is a one-part package and has a clearance on a bottom side for accommodating a plug, already fastened to the board, when the package is connected to the board. The package couples the component to the board. Also provided is a method of mounting the package by first soldering the plug for the electronic component to the board and testing the plug. Then, the package is fitted onto the board accommodating the plug with the fastening pins connected to the board in a press-fit.

Housing for plug-connected electrical component and method of mounting such a housing on a printed circuit board

The holder is suitable for detachably fixing a component in an operational end position. The holder has an upper side on which the component is moved into the end position along a mounting direction. The holder comprises an ejector that has at least one spring which exerts an elastic force on the component in the final position. The spring force acts in a direction opposite the mounting direction.

A detachable connecting system includes a component and a mount having cooperating guides which effect a defined movement of the component in a mounting direction into a connecting position when a connection is established. An underside of the component has a locking element which engages another corresponding locking element in the connecting position. The other locking element is disposed at a free end of a resilient tongue disposed below the component. In the connecting position, an actuation region of the free end of the tongue is accessible from a front end of the component.

Detachable connecting system

A coupling device is for coupling an optical fiber to an optical transmitting or receiving unit. The coupling device can be included in a transmitting or receiving device. The coupling device to be can be one piece, formed of a nonconductive material, and, for the optical transmitting or receiving unit, can be mounted directly on a section projecting like a step or a contact-making face applied thereto. The flattened surface of the section projects like a step and has a longitudinal notch for positioning the transmitting or receiving unit.

The plug connector extends along a main axis and at least one optical waveguide end terminates in a connector housing. Locking parts, which are preferably symmetrically placed on the narrow sides of the connector housing, each have a detent element. An actuating element can be actuated to displace the detent elements from a locking position into a release position. The direction of displacement of the actuating element extends substantially perpendicular to the main axis of the plug connector and it is different from the direction along which the detent elements move between the locking and release positions.

Optical plug-in connector

A connecting system for detachably mechanically connecting an electronic component to a support is described. The connecting system has fixed rails that are configured on the longitudinal sides of the support. When the connecting system is assembled, at least two grips on each longitudinal side of the electronic component grip under the fixing rails. Each fixing rail has at least one hole allowing the grips to be introduced vertically in relation to the support, in a direction Y, with the grips advancing in direction Z. The holes are configured in such a way that the advancing grips can pass through them during assembly without leaving the support.

Connection system

The module has a connection port with a lock and a holding sleeve adapted to receive an SC connector. Alignment aids align the connector in such a way that optical conductor ends that extend in a common plane within the connector come to lie in a prescribed position. The module includes a plurality of electrooptical transducers which are assigned to the one connection port and are aligned with the prescribed relative position of the longitudinal plane via waveguides. When the connector pin is inserted, each transducer is individually coupled to a respective end of one of the optical conductors.

Multichannel optical module

A releasable mounting device includes an electronic component having terminal contact surfaces disposed in at least two rows on an outer side. Corresponding contacts of a terminal part are correspondingly disposed in two contact rows. The contacts of each contact row can be moved jointly away from the outer side by an actuating element. During a mounting operation, the contact rows of the terminal part, which are located one behind the other as seen in a mounting direction, are moved away from the outer side one after the other by the component, beginning with a front contact row. When an end mounting position is reached, the contact rows of the terminal part pass into electrical contact with the terminal contact surfaces.

Device for releasably mounting an electronic component

An electrical unit includes a printed circuit board having a multi-pole plug and a main board having body edges and a plug to be connected to the multi-pole plug in a plug connection. A frame for receiving the printed circuit board has opposed sides and catch lugs being disposed on the opposed sides. The catch lugs have catch elements and the catch lugs are elastically deformed by the body edges upon connection of the plug of the main board to the multi-pole plug. A release lever is supported on the frame and has at least one pressure surface to be pivoted out of a connected position in which the catch elements are latched fixingly to the main board and into a release position in which the at least one pressure surface is braced against the main board for generating a force to undo the plug connection.

A method for securely fixing optical waveguide leads to a connector includes particular steps to ensure that the connection between the connector and the waveguide leads is reliable. First, a winching procedure is utilized before attaching the waveguide lead containing cable to the connector. The winching procedure removes any excess length, i.e., slack, in the cable components that are used to absorb high tension stress. In the second step, after inserting the optical waveguide leads in an elastic positioning member and compressing the positioning member to arrest the leads and thereby form crescent-shaped cavities between the waveguide leads and the positioning member, the cavities are filled with a quick-hardening glue.
