A method of injection-molding three-layer moldings, especially bottle blanks, having inner and outer layers of a 'material A' and of a 'material B'. Material B can be a material that acts as a barrier against the gases O.sub.2, CO.sub.2, and SO.sub.2, and against water vapor (H.sub.2 O). The method employs a device that comprises at least one mold and at least one flat hot runner. The mold has several cavities and the hot runner has the same number of dies. Material A is supplied to the cavities (1.1) through an annular gap between the inner (2.1) and the outer (2.2) component of each die. Material B is forced into the cavities through a hollow needle (3) that extends through the center of the inner die component by a piston (4) that is integrated into the die and cannot rotate. The needle has a port (6) that opens into it at a right angle and remains open as long as the needle remains advanced, in a closing position, and that is blocked when the needle is retracted. A reservoir (3.3) constituted by the hollow inside the needle is charged through the port while the needle is in its closing position.

Apparatus for die casting three-layer articles

Apparatus of injection molding three-layer moldings, especially bottle blanks with an inner and an outer layer of polyethylene terephthalate and a middle layer of recycled polyethylene terephthalate, employing a mold with several cavities. The material (component A) for the inner and outer layers is supplied through one molten-component conveying channel and the material (component B) for the middle layer through another molten-component conveying channel. The channels are separately heated and their temperatures independently regulated. The melt for component A flows the same distance as the melt for component B. The melts flow into the injection-molding dies such as to ensure a uniform front.

Apparatus for injection-molding three-layer moldings

A shaped body for feeding cupola furnaces in the melting of cast iron composed of a silicon carrier as an alloying material, a slag-forming material and free carbon. The silicon carrier is in the form of SiC and/or FeSi. The slag-forming material is made of SiO.sub.2, Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and CaO. In order to avoid the loss of silicon and have a silicon yield that may be safely controlled without the use of graphite when such bodies are used in unlined hot-blast cupola furnaces with steel scrap proportions in excess of 30% of the charge, the present invention uses free carbon in the form of calcined petroleum-, pitch-, or acicular coke or a combination thereof. Additionally, the ratio of SiO.sub.2 to free carbon is in the range of 2-4 and the basicity of the slag-forming material is in the range of 0.2-1.4. A method for using the shaped body in unlined hot-blast cupola furnaces to make cast iron is also disclosed.
