The invention describes a gas-discharge lamp () comprising a vessel (), which vessel () is partially coated with at least one longitudinal stripe (S, S') arranged on the surface of the vessel () below a horizontal plane (P) through a longitudinal axis (X) through the centre of the lamp () such that, on each side of the lamp, an angle (&#x3b2;, &#x3b2;) subtended at the lamp centre by the horizontal plane (P) and an upper edge () of the longitudinal stripe (S, S&#x2032;) on that side of the lamp comprises at least 10&#xb0;, more preferably at least 13&#xb0;, most preferably at least 15&#xb0;. The invention also describes a reflector () for a lamp (), comprising a reflective interior surface realized to deflect light (L, L, L, L) originating from the lamp () outward to give a specific beam profile () with a bright/dark cut-off line () and a shoulder (), and wherein the lamp (), in particular a lamp () according to any of claimsto, is positioned horizontally in the reflector (), and wherein the reflective interior surface comprises at least one beam-shaping region (A,B) realised to deflect a portion (L, L) of the light (L, L, L, L), emitted from the lamp () between 7.5&#xb0; and 15&#xb0; below a horizontal plane (P), at a specific region (A,B) within the beam profile (). The invention further describes a lighting assembly () comprising such a reflector () and a lamp (), in particular a lamp () according to the invention.

Gas-discharge lamp

A gas discharge lamp has an inner bulb with a discharge vessel with two sealing sections thereon, from which electrodes protrude into the discharge vessel, each electrically connected with a conductor in the associated sealing section to supply current to the electrodes. The lamp also has an outer bulb surrounding the discharge vessel, leaving a cavity therebetween. Close to at least one of the electrodes in or near a transitional area between the discharge vessel and the associated sealing section on an outside of the inner bulb is arranged potential-free a conductive structure which on application of a voltage to the electrodes influences the electrical field adjacent the electrodes such that a discharge arc travels from the electrode first in the direction of a wall section of the discharge vessel adjacent the electrode and then over the inside of the wall toward the other electrode.

Gas discharge lamp

The invention describes a high intensity gas-discharge lamp comprising a discharge vessel (') enclosing a fill gas in a discharge chamber () and comprising a pair of electrodes (&#x2032;) extending into the discharge chamber (), and wherein the fill gas includes a halide composition comprising a halide of sodium and, optionally, scandium iodide to a total proportion of at least 30 wt %, and a halide of terbium and/or gadolinium to a proportion of at least 5 wt %.

High intensity discharge lamp

The invention describes a gas-discharge lamp () comprising a vessel (), which vessel is partially coated with an essentially rectangular stripe (S) arranged circumferentially on a surface of the vessel, and wherein a first long side () of the stripe is situated close to a base () of the lamp, and the width (w) of the stripe is such that a first angle (&#x3b1;) subtended at a lamp center between a radius (r) and a point on the first long side () of the stripe comprises at most 55&#xb0;, and a second angle (&#x3b1;) subtended at the lamp center between the radius and a point on a second long side () of the stripe comprises at most 50&#xb0;. The invention also describes a reflector for a lamp, comprising a reflective interior surface realized to deflect light originating from the lamp outward to give a specific beam profile with a bright/dark cutoff line and a shoulder, and wherein the lamp, in particular a lamp as described above, is positioned horizontally in the reflector, and wherein the reflective interior surface comprises at least one beam-shaping region realized to deflect a portion of the light emitted from the lamp between 7.5&#xb0; and 15&#xb0; below a horizontal plane, at a specific region within the beam profile.

High intensity gas-discharge lamp

A gas-discharge lamp () is described having two electrodes () that project into the discharge vessel () of the lamp. The lamp further comprises an outer envelope () that surrounds the discharge vessel (), with an airtight seal, while leaving an outer cavity () between itself and the discharge vessel () and that is filled with a gas at a pressure of not more than 1,000 mbar. In the outer cavity (), there is a single conductor, electrically connected to one of the electrodes, that is in direct contact with the gas filling in the cavity () to allow a high-voltage pulse to be applied for igniting a discharge between the conductor and its surroundings. Also described are a method of operating a gas-discharge lamp of this kind and various methods of producing gas-discharge lamps of this kind.

Gas discharge lamp with outer cavity

It is provided a lamp, particularly halogen lamp, for a headlight of a motor vehicle, comprising a light source () for emitting mainly white light, a mainly transparent envelope () encapsulating the light source () and a filter element () provided at the envelope (), wherein the filter element () is adapted for deflecting visible light of a predefined wavelength interval such, that mainly blue light can be provided above a bright/dark-cutoff (). Since the deflected bluish light is above the bright/dark-cutoff () an oncoming driver recognizes earlier the light. At the same time the oncoming driver is not blinded by the blue light above the bright/dark-cutoff (), since not the whole emitted light () but only a smaller wavelength interval is directed above the bright/dark-cutoff ().

Lamp for a headlight of a motor vehicle

The invention relates to a lamp for motor vehicle headlamps, and in particular a high intensity discharge lamp, comprising at least one envelope which is arranged on a base and which is provided with two coatings arranged diametrically opposite one another, wherein the coatings () are identical in form and project at least 0.5 millimeters upwards beyond a horizontal plane in which, when the lamp is in the burnt-in position, the reference axis (R) which passes through the center of the base () lies.

Motor vehicle lamp

A high-pressure discharge lamp which is suitable for motor vehicle headlights, has an improved color point stability close to the black body locus, a high color temperature, and a high luminous efficacy (lm/w). The high-pressure discharge lamp includes an inner vessel with a discharge chamber, with at least two electrodes extending into the discharge chamber, and an outer bulb surrounding the inner vessel. The discharge chamber contains an ionizable filling including at least one rare gas, 0-10 mg of mercury, and a metal halide mixture. The metal halide mixture includes 40-80% by weight of sodium halide, 25-55% by weight of scandium halide, 1-15% by weight of indium halide, and 0-34% by weight of thallium halide.

High-pressure discharge lamp with improved color point stability and high luminous efficacy

The invention relates to a lamp for a vehicle headlight with low-beam function, which lamp has an outer envelope and emits at least visible light of different colors from several regions of the outer envelope, characterized in that in that a partial coating is at least provided on the outer envelope such that, when the low-beam function is being realized, at least that region of the traffic space which lies above the bright-dark cut-off can be at least partly illuminated with visible colored light which is scattered at said partial coating, while at the same time that region of the traffic space which lies below the bright-dark cut-off can be illuminated with visible light of a different color in defined regions.

Lamp for a vehicle headlight with low-beam function

The invention relates to a gas discharge lamp, in particular a high-pressure discharge lamp for use in automobiles. The invention further relates to a lighting system with at least one light source, at least one light coupling system, at least one optical waveguide, and at least one light delivery system. Such lighting systems with a central light source and a distribution of the light over optical waveguides (i.e. suitable optical fiber systems) in remote locations are particularly suitable for applications in the automobile branch. For this application, a high brightness must be available already after a short run-up time of the lamp. To provide a gas discharge lamp with a high brightness, which makes available a sufficient brightness after a short period, a gas discharge lamp is proposed with a bulb which has an ellipsoidal discharge chamber in a central location, which chamber has a surface area with a maximum value of below 2.5 cm.sup.2, with two electrodes projecting into the discharge chamber which have an electrode interspacing Ea of 1.5 mm to 3.0 mm inside the discharge chamber, with a filling in the discharge chamber which is in a gas discharge state during operation of the lamp and has a filling density of 80 to 90 mg/cm.sup.3, with at least a mercury component in the filling which defines the filling density, and with an operating voltage between the electrodes in the discharge chamber of 80 to 90 V during lamp operation.
