In order to provide a system for stabilizing a power supply system comprising a choke, which connects the power supply system to a mains power feed, a converter system connected to the power supply system and having a converter machine with a rotor and at least one three-phase winding, which is in a position to stabilize the voltage in the power supply system to a specific value it is suggested that the converter system comprise a flywheel storage means with a synchronous machine and a flywheel coupled thereto, that the converter system have a static converter system, with which the flywheel storage means can be coupled to the converter machine such that the flywheel storage means can draw power from the converter machine or supply power to it, and that a control be provided which detects the voltage of the power supply system and controls the static converter system such that the converter machine stabilizes the voltage of the power supply system to a predeterminable value by drawing or supplying power.

System for stabilizing a power supply system

A transfer molded semiconductor circuit package with two spaced, parallel, exteriorly accessible substrate plates located symmetrically to a medial plane of the package and encapsulated, to levels flush with their remote faces, in a body of low stress semiconductor grade molding compound. The package has precisely parallel outer faces constituted at least in part by the remote faces of the substrate plates and enabling full-surface engagement of the substrate plates with respective heat sinks. A method of making the package is also disclosed. The symmetry of the arrangement of the substrate plates inhibits any bending thereof during the molding of the package such as would occur in a single substrate plate due to differences between the thermal expansion coefficients of the molding compound and the substrate plates.

400 Hz aircraft ground power supply with a three phase AC power source connectable via an electric power relay and flexible cable provided with a socket connector to a plug connector at the aircraft. In the energizing circuit of the power relay is arranged a closing contact of a second electric relay, the energizing circuit of which is led via switching means at the socket connector to be actuated by a pin of the plug connector. Thus the closing contact of the second relay is opened as long as the socket connector is not plugged to the plug connector. A third electric relay energized via the connectors by a source of DC current on board the aircraft has a closing contact in parallel to the closing contact of the second relay in the energizing circuit of the power relay and further opening contacts disconnecting a separate source of voltage in the energizing circuit of the second relay if the third relay is energized.

Static inverter with controlled semiconductor switches and anti-parallel diodes and with a control device for providing a current well above the rated current in the case of a short circuit in a consumer for quickly blowing a fuse in the circuit of the consumer. Anti-parallel thyristors are connected across the inverter output. The control device upon a short circuit takes over the control from the normal inverter control device and switches the semiconductor switches between two curents in the load circuit, of which the higher current represents the peak current limit for the semiconductor switches and the lower current lies considerably above the rated current. The control blocks the semiconductor switches when the current limit is reached and fires at least that thyristor which allows current to pass in the direction of the actual current flow.

Static inverter with an overcurrent circuit upon a short circuit

Electric semiconductor switching module for a switching arrangement with switching times of the order of magnitude of 100 ns and large currents. The switching arrangement features a parallel connection of active semiconductor switching elements and freewheel diodes, which are each arranged in direct proximity, and having a load connection of the semiconductor switching elements and freewheel diodes such that current flows in the same direction relative to the load connection through the semiconductor switching elements and the freewheel diodes. The connections for the direct current voltage source are designed with spatially closely adjacent conductors, in particular two conductor layers separated by an insulating layer. The conductors are arranged in direct proximity to the semiconductor switching elements and the freewheel diodes and the terminals of the semiconductor switching elements and the freewheel diodes are connected conductively with the conductors in such a way that current always flows through them in the same direction. It is also advisable that at least one smoothing capacitor is arranged directly on the switching module.

Semiconductor module for a high-speed switching arrangement

A rotary converter machine which includes a stator with three-phase primary, and secondary windings, and a rotor mounted within the stator which includes a damping winding. The primary and secondary stator windings are arranged on a common stator pack and located in continuous stator slots, both windings extending over the whole axial length of the common stator pack. The converter machine provides a direct transfer of the electrical energy by flux linkage between the two windings. The rotor is driven by the rotating magnetic field either asynchronously, if a drum rotor is provided, or synchronously, if a salient-pole rotor is provided.

A battery/mains generator set for the production of a continuing electricity supply in the event of failure of the mains supply, the set comprising an a.c. machine capable of operating either as a generator or as a motor and, mechanically coupled thereto, a d.c. machine also operable either as a generator or as a motor, the a.c. machine being, in operation, permanently connected, with the mains supply through a static switch, which prevents back-flow of power into the mains, the a.c. machine, when mains driven, being operable as a motor and driving the d.c. machine, which then operates as a generator and charges a battery in accordance with a required I/V characteristic curve, and, on failure of the mains supply, the d.c. machine being operable as a motor powered by the battery to drive the a.c. machine as a generator, thereby providing an output supply to an external load in place of the mains supply, the set also including a current transformer connected to pass the reactive current flowing between the mains and the a.c. machine or the external load and to supply a potential regulator connected to control a controllable exciter winding of the a.c. machine, whereby the a.c. machine will be operated in accordance with the requirement of the external load for reactive power during mains operation.
