A slider needle () having a partition element () clipped through an insertion slit () in the needle base body (). The partition element () is shaped such that it can be easily inserted in the needle base body, but is still securely held, optionally with some play, as a result of positive engagement. The partition element comprises, preferably as a one-piece component, a spring part () and a foot extension () interacting with the bottom () of the slider slit. Preferably, the foot extensionhas two sections () that are bent in opposite directions, either in a transverse or a longitudinal direction of the otherwise flat partition element (). In the region of the insertion slit (), the back () of the needle base body () has an indentation () so that the bent over sections () cannot project beyond the needle back ().

Slider needle with built-in center strip

A compound needle ( ) is provided with a slider ( ) having two slider springs ( ). These are arched away from each other in a section immediately adjoining their insertion funnel ( ). The compound needle has a slider slit ( ), which initially is relatively narrow at its inlet ( ), so that a guide section ( ) has been established there. Thereafter the slider slit ( ) widens, so that a running section ( ) is established. The lateral bulge of the slider springs ( ) is of such a dimension that the slider ( ) runs free in the running section (4 ), and is guided without lateral play in the guide section ( ). The compound needle ( ) also operates precisely in case of tension forces acting laterally on the slider ( ) and requires only a small opening width of its funnel ( ).

Compound needle

A compound needle ( ) is provided with a slider ( ) having two slider springs ( ), whose ends constitute an open funnel pointing toward the hook ( ). The ends, or legs ( ), constituting the funnel, are flattened. Therefore, starting at a starting point, the thickness of the material is reduced in the tapered area ( ) toward the ends of the slider springs ( ). By means of this a correct functioning of the compound needle is also provided if the slider ( ) is not completely centered. Moreover, it is possible to improve the easy movement of the slider ( ) in the slider slit in that the funnel, formed by the legs ( ), can be embodied to be narrower at a constant width, than without the taper of the slider springs ( ).

Compound needle with improved slider

A compound needle has blades of a slider having tongues formed by two superposed blades accommodated in a blade accommodating groove formed in a needle body. The blades are provided with bends to bring side surfaces of the blades accommodated in the blade groove in the needle body into press-contact with side walls of the groove. Front end portions of the blades can thus be held in positions that are equally divided to the right and left with respect to the widthwise direction of the blade groove from a widthwise center of the groove to more reliably center the blades in the blade groove.

Compound needle of knitting machine

A compound needle includes a shank having an end; a hook formed on the shank at the shank end and having a hook tip; and a closing element slot provided in the shank and being defined by two parallel shank flanks. The closing element slot extends from a location adjacent the hook in a direction away therefrom. The compound needle further has an elongated closing element received in the closing element slot for longitudinal sliding motions therein. The closing element has a hook-closing position in which the closing element is situated in an immediate vicinity of the hook tip. The closing element is composed of at least two side-by-side disposed, resilient closing element parts each having a free terminal leg oriented toward the hook. The terminal legs are bent away from one another to define a relatively narrow funnel having an open end oriented toward the hook and a beginning spaced from the open funnel end. The closing element parts are bent away from one another from the beginning of the funnel in a rearward direction away from the hook for resiliently contacting respective slot flanks at contact locations. The contact locations are situated adjacent the beginning of the closing element slot when the closing element is in its hook-closing position.

Compound needle having a divided closing element

A knitting tool includes a flat shank having opposite first and second narrow sides and an elongated, narrow control spring forming an integral, one-piece part with the shank and projecting therefrom. The control spring has a first, free end and an opposite second end. The second end is directly formed on the shank and constitutes a continuation of the first narrow shank side. The knitting tool further has an elongated bay bounded by the control spring and the first narrow shank side. The bay has an open end at the first, free end of the control spring and a closed end at the second end of the control spring.
