A voice-control system for motor vehicles has a plurality of spaced microphones emitting respective microphone signals, and an evaluation unit connected to the microphones. This unit serves for assembling correlation pairs from the signals of two of the microphones, calculating a correlation coefficient for each correlation pair, detecting an energy value for each microphone, detecting a respective delay time of a voice signal between a voice signal source and the each of the microphones, and selecting in dependence on current correlation coefficients of the correlation pairs, on the current energy values of the microphones, and on the current delay time of the voice signal to the microphones, that microphone whose signal is optimal as a basis for the operation of the voice-control system.

Motor-vehicle voice-control system and microphone-selecting method therefor

This object is attained by the combination of a motor-vehicle safety belt formed as a flexible longitudinally extending band and formed with a longitudinally extending and laterally substantially closed passage with an insert fittable into the passage and comprised of a flexible and elongated support strip and at least one electrical or electronic element usable by a motor-vehicle passenger employing the belt secured to the strip.

Motor-vehicle seat belt with built-in electronics

A safety belt has an inner face turned toward the body of a user and an outer face turned away from the user. A plurality of sensor are mounted on the outer face, and the inner face is devoid of sensors. A selector connected to the sensors determines which sensor is best positioned for signal quality and for using the signal therefrom.

Motor-vehicle seat belt with integrated sensors

In a microphone mounting for a hands-free system in automotive vehicles, the microphone is mounted on the seat belt. In one embodiment the microphone is seated in a sheath which is fastened to the upper belt deflection and through which the belt can freely pass. The sheath consists of two mutually displaceable flat sleeves, of which the lower one accommodates the microphone whose position relative to the passenger's mouth can be adjusted in an optimum way by a mutual displacement of the two sleeves. In another embodiment the microphone is provided at its side facing the belt with contacts that are brought into electrical contact with conducting wires integrated into the belt so as to be connected to the telephone circuit.

Hands-free microphone mounting

A microphone module, comprising a microphone capsule ( ) with an amplifier printed circuit board ( ) attached thereto, is provided with a shield arrangement in the form of a half-shell, which encompasses the amplifier component elements located on one side of the printed circuit board, and which is soldered to the continuous metal lamination coating located on the opposite side of said board. The resulting shield trough surrounds the half of the metallic microphone capsule, fitted into it, while making contact thereto. The half of the rear side of the microphone capsule projecting above the printed circuit board ( ) is provided with a metallized shield ( ), which is in contact with the capsule housing and with the lamination coating ( ) of the printed circuit board ( ). The amplifier circuit on the printed circuit board is therefore completely shielded and effectively protected against interference scatter. To achieve the desired directional effect, sound pressure apertures ( ) are arranged on the rear side of the microphone capsule ( ), and, in order to retain and improve their effectiveness, the amplifier printed circuit board ( ) is provided with corresponding cut-outs ( ) on its edge on the microphone side (FIG. ).
