A process for the production of the bicyclic compound 4,4,8,8,10-pentamethyl-10-cyano-bicyclo[4.4.0]-dec-1,6-en-2-one which comprises the steps of (a) reacting a ketone fraction comprising ##STR1## or mixtures thereof, (b) by adding HCN to the ketone fraction the presence of a base, at a temperature of 50.degree.-200.degree. C. to obtain an addition product comprising the bicyclic compound, and

Process for the production of

Cis-2,6-dimethylmorpholine is manufactured by catalytic isomerization of trans-2,6-dimethylmorpholine. A previously hydrogen-activated copper chromite catalyst is used for catalytic isomerization of the trans-2,6-dimethylmorpholine. The catalyst preferably also contains barium oxide and/or manganese dioxide. The process is carried out at 180.degree.-300.degree. C. and 1-500 bar absolute. The inexpensive novel catalyst enables conversions which are better than those with known methods.

Method of manufacturing cis-2,6-dimethylmorpholine

N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide is prepared by reacting the azeotrope of methylmorpholine and water with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide. The reaction solution product is thereupon concentrated to the desired content in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide.
