A motor-vehicle latch system has a latch having a locking element displaceable between a locked position and an unlocked position and a latching element actuatable in the unlocked condition of the latch to unlock the latch and ineffective when actuated in the locked condition of the latch. An outside door handle connected to the latching element is movable between an actuated position and an unactuated position and a key having a transponder can fit in a rotatable body carrying an electrically powered transponder reader that can read a code of the transponder of the key. An electrically powered electromagnetic coupling has one part connected to the body and another part connected to the locking lever and can be energized to close and couple the two parts together and thereby connect the body with the locking lever. An electrically powered controller connected to the transponder reader and the coupling can energize and close the coupling when the transponder in the key matches a predetermined code. A dynamo adjacent the door handle is connected to the coupling and to the controller. An energy-storage unit connected to the dynamo receives electricity therefrom and supplies it to the reader, coupling, and controller. The dynamo is coupled to the door handle for operation of the dynamo and charging of the storage unit on displacement of the handle between the actuated and unactuated positions.

Electrical self-powered motor-vehicle door latch

A motor-vehicle door has an outer door panel, an annular inner door panel including a front frame member fixed to the outer door panel, a lower frame member fixed to the outer door panel, a separate upper frame member, and a rear frame member fixed to the outer door panel. The front, lower, and rear members together form an opening and the front frame member is formed with a pair of vertically spaced hinge holes each having a horizontal front part and a downwardly and rearwardly inclined rear part. An insert plate carries the upper frame member, fits in the opening, and is provided with hinge lugs engaged in the openings. The insert plate is pivotal about the lugs in the hinge holes between a raised position projecting inward from the door and a lowered position fitting in the opening. Mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic subassemblies are fixed on the insert plate, and fasteners retain the insert plate on the inner door panel in the lowered position of the plate.

Motor-vehicle door

A motor-vehicle door has an outer skin and an inner skin fixed to the outer skin, forming therewith a cavity, and formed with a cutout. A mechanism holder is releasably secured in the cavity at the cutout. A latch is secured by a horizontally effective slide mount on the holder and can move via the mount horizontally on the holder and be fixed on the holder in any of a plurality of horizontally offset positions thereon. A detent engaged between the slide mount and the latch releasably secures the latch in one of the positions. The slide mount includes a pair of interfitting and horizontally extending rails respectively fixed to the holder and to the latch.
