A method for the automatic operation of a vehicle in an autonomous driving operation requiring no user action by means of a driver assistance system involves informing a driver of the vehicle in good time about an imminent automatic intervention of the driver assistance system into longitudinal and/or transverse dynamics in the autonomous driving operation by way of an automatic emission of a notice.

A method and a control unit are provided for detecting when the driver of a motor vehicle becomes inattentive. In order to be able to reliably draw conclusions about the presence of inattentiveness of the driver, it is proposed to observe not only a steering inactivity phase but also a steering action which follows the steering inactivity phase. A detected implementation of the steering inactivity phase and of the steering action are logically combined with one another, and the result of this logic combination is then used as a measure of the severity of the inattentiveness of the driver. In addition, the measure of the severity of the inattentiveness of the driver depends on at least one driver-specific parameter which is determined during the execution of the method. The inattentiveness of the driver can also be detected during the time interval in which the at least one driver-specific parameter is determined.

A method and a computer program for identifying when the driver of a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, is not paying attention. In order to make it possible to make a more reliable statement on the presence of any inattentiveness by the driver, the method observes a steering action following a steering quiescent phase, in addition to detecting the steering quiescent phase. The extent of the steering quiescent phase and of the steering action found are logically linked to one another, and the result of this logical operation is then used as a measure for the severity of the inattentiveness of the driver.

In a method and in a device for detecting when the driver of a motor vehicle becomes tired, the tiredness is determined as a function of a detected steering inactivity phase and a subsequent steering action. In this context, the steering inactivity phase is logically combined with the steering action, and the logic combination is stored at various times. The logic combination is stored with an assigned weighting factor, and the weighting factor is determined as a function of a classification of a steering situation.

When one of the conditions for the start or the end of an acceleration operation, of a deceleration operation or of a constant driving operation exists, adjusting signals are generated for automatically adjusting of vehicle and engine components.

Process and system for the automated influencing of the vehicle handling of a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine

A method for controlling a heating and/or air-conditioning apparatus is provided, wherein, through an intervention unit, a user can perform interventions which lead to different settings of the heating and/or air-conditioning apparatus. Various parameters are read into a control unit and are processed. A method for driver-behavior-adaptive control of a variably adjustable motor vehicle accessory. One or more parameters indicative of driver behavior are sensed and a pertinent driver behavior is ascertained therefrom. Accessory adjustment is performed variably as a function of the driver behavior that was ascertained. The driver behavior is ascertained in terms of a long-term driving manner component, and a short-term dynamic demand component and/or a steady-speed request component. Accessory adjustment is performed, if a short-term dynamic demand exists, in accordance with an adjustment characteristic having a dynamic level corresponding at least to that dynamic demand. When a constant-speed request exists, accessory adjustment is performed in accordance with a relevant low-dynamic adjustment characteristic. Otherwise, accessory adjustment is performed in accordance with an adjustment characteristic determined by the long-term driving manner component.

Method for driver-behavior-adaptive control of a variably adjustable motor vehicle accessory

A method is provided for adapting the side support, as a function of the driving situation and driving styles, of a person sitting in the seat of a vehicle, in which method a lateral acceleration acting on the seat is determined as reference variable for the adaptation. In order to allow greater allowance for the way in which the sitting person senses lateral acceleration, as well as a comfortable sitting sensation with the advantages of a necessary side support which is built up in curves at short notice, the specific instantaneous lateral acceleration is weighted with the instantaneous driving speed of the vehicle. A control variable for the degree of adaptation is derived therefrom. In addition, a supplementary control variable is determined which brings about support of the driver on both sides in the seat as a function of the driving style. A vehicle seat in which this method is applied is specified.
