The disclosure concerns a vehicle sun visor having a recess in one of its surfaces and a housing in the recess where the bottom of the housing is a trough having a detent in one of its side walls and carrying a light source and an operating switch for the light source. The top is a insert which includes a detent clip to clip it to the bottom part. An opening in the top part provides access to a switch for the light source in the bottom part. A mirror is in the top part. An illumination window in the top part permits light to exit from the bottom part. There may be a point radiator for light at the illumination window. A displaceable cover over the mirror is spring-biased to translate open over the surface of the mirror to expose the mirror. There may be a point radiator for light at the illumination window. A spring-loaded knob connected with the cover holds the same closed and when the knob is operated, it releases the cover to be biased open by the rubber band spring.

Sun visor for vehicles

A sun visor for vehicles is disclosed which has a cushioning sun visor body surrounded by a cover layer and stiffened by an incorporated reinforcement insert. At one end of one of the longitudinal edges of the body, a support shaft is mounted with one end in the body and the other end held by a swivel bearing. At the other end of the same longitudinal edge, a support pin is mounted extending across a recess defined in that edge. The support pin is approximately parallel to that longitudinal edge and can be detachably engaged with the support receiver of an outer support. The support pin is formed, in whole or in part, of a plastic body which is injection molded directly onto a region of the cover layer.

The disclosure concerns a sun visor including a visor body which is adapted to slide axially along a pivot-bearing housing defined along one longitudinal edge of the sun visor body, whereby the sun visor can be swiveled around that pivot-bearing housing and the sun-visor body can move along the pivot bearing housing. Inside the pivot-bearing housing is disposed one arm of the support shaft for the visor. A sleeve that is around the shaft and inside the pivot-bearing housing is slidable along the shaft and is fixed to the pivot-bearing housing by a spring which acts upon the sleeve through a window in the pivot-bearing housing. A second slide member is positioned toward the free end of the shaft. The end of the pivot-bearing housing supports a fastened on clip, which closes that end of the pivot-bearing housing. The reinforcing insert for the sun-visor body is also supported between flanges formed on the pivot-bearing housing.

A sun visor for automotive vehicles includes a sun visor body with a mirror on one surface and a cover which is selectively movable to expose and cover up the mirror. The cover is slidable past one edge of the mirror and into a recess defined in the visor body. The length of the recess is shorter than the length of the cover when it is extended. The cover is deformable to fit into the reduced size recess. The cover forms a loop in that recess, or is wound up on a shaft in that recess, etc. The cover is comprised of flexible material or it comprises a series of adjacent slats which are articulatedly connected for deflecting with respect to each other. The cover is guided for its movement in lateral guides.

Cover for mirror for sun visor, particularly for automobiles

The disclosure concerns a sun visor for an automotive vehicle wherein the foamed body of the sun visor is surrounded by a covering layer of flexible, foil material. The sun visor body has a recess defined in it for holding a mirror or the housing that supports the mirror. The section of the covering layer overlapping the recess is more expansible than the remainder of the covering layer. To make this section more expansible, it is punched with holes defining a lattice of the material, and various shapes holes are disclosed.

The invention concerns a sun visor for an automotive vehicle, or the like, which is adapted to safety requirements. The visor body has a frame that is flush with the outer surface of the sun visor body. The sun visor has a mirror in the visor body that is protected by a cover. The cover is swivelably mounted to the visor body frame to swivel between its open and closed conditions. A separately swivelable control knob selectively locks closed and permits opening of the cover. The control knob has a recess for capturing the free edge of the cover and swiveling of the control knob with the edge of the cover in the recess locks the cover closed. A detent locks the knob in the open condition. The cover is an integral unit including a pin that is received in a hole in the frame for supporting the cover, the swiveling cover itself and a hinge between the attached and swiveling portions of the cover.

Sun visor with protected mirror particularly for vehicles

The disclosure concerns a sun visor for an automotive mirror having a mirror supported in a recess of the sun visor and the mirror being back lighted. The mirror is supported in a light-transmitting frame that is positioned in the recess, whereby the light behind the mirror is transmitted to illuminate the mirror. A covering over the mirror includes a covering frame and a cover flap hingedly supported on the covering frame and pivotable between positions uncovering and covering the mirror. The hinge is located at the bottom of the covering frame so that the cover flap opens downwardly. A clip connection, or the like, holds the cover flap closed to the covering frame. An operator for the light source switch is positioned to be engaged by the cover flap when the latter is closed for thereby moving the light source between the on and off positions.

Sun visor for vehicles including a mirror

The invention is concerned with a hollow mounting pin for a sun visor for an automotive vehicle. The mounting pin is bent. One leg is affixed to the body of the automotive vehicle. The other leg serves as one part of the swivel bearing for the sun visor body. An electric conductor passes through the hollow mounting pin. At the end of the hollow mounting pin located at the swivel bearing on the visor body, a receptacle is formed. An electric switch contact is supported in the receptacle. The contact includes a contact projection that extends through the wall of the receptacle. A cooperating strap is defined on the visor body. As the visor body is swiveled, the strap selectively contacts or is out of contact with the contact projection. The electric switch contact in the receptacle is prevented from pivoting with respect to the receptacle by the contact projection and/or by appropriate complementary profiling of the electric switch contact and the receptacle. Various configurations for the electric switch contact are disclosed, including a U-shaped body with the contact projection being at the web of the 'U', a length of wire, bent generally hairpin-like, and having a U-shape, with the contact projection being on the one arm of the 'U'. The electric switch contact is adapted to have the conductor that passes through the hollow mounting pin secured to it and through the contact strap on the visor body, the electric connection to the light source is made.
