A strand guide device serves to deflect a freshly cast strand, typically made of metal, into the horizontal. During the deflection, the cast strand passes through a cooling chamberinside the strand guide device, in which it is sprayed with a coolant, with the formation of steam. The steam forms at least a steam-air mixture' with sucked-in secondary air, which is sucked out of the cooling chamber by a suction device. In order to reduce the pollutant content of the sucked-in and sucked-off steam-air mixture′ and its emission into the environment, pollutants, primarily dust, located in the steam-air mixture′ are depleted by a separator

Method and strand guide device for operating a cooling chamber

The invention relates to an electromagnetic braking device for the steel melt running within the continuous casting ingot in a continuous casting unit. The electromagnetic brake device comprises at least one coil () with a ferromagnetic core (), arranged on the broad side of the ingot and at least one yoke () provided on the above. In order to reduce the oscillating masses on the ingot components and to permit the retro-fitting of electromagnetic brakes to conventional continuous casting machines, the electromagnetic brake, comprising yoke (), coil () and ferromagnetic core (), is embodied such as to pivot inwards or outwards, preferably by means of two unequal length, non-parallel levers in or on the continuous casting ingot, using an actuator ().

Electromagnetic braking device for the ingot in a continuous casting unit

A continuous casting mold with two oppositely located short side walls and two oppositely located long side walls which extend past the short side walls, wherein at least one of the short side walls is moveable by an adjusting member toward or away from the other short side wall. The adjusting member is constructed in the form of two hydraulic cylinder units which can be actuated independently from each other, wherein each hydraulic cylinder unit has a cylinder and a piston which is adjustable relative to the cylinder in an adjusting direction.

Continuous casting mold and method

An apparatus for blasting a strip emerging from a roll stand, wherein the apparatus includes a separate strip edge blasting unit, wherein the strip edge blasting unit and the strip blasting apparatus are control-technically connected to each other. The strip edge blasting unit includes nozzle beams with several nozzles whose nozzle beam inputs are connected to the valve outputs of the valves of the existing strip blasting apparatus. The nozzle beams are arranged in the areas of the edge zones of the strip blasting apparatus. The blasting nozzles of the strip blasting apparatus are controlled in such a way that always only that nozzle is provided with compressed air which is located next to the last edge zone nozzle, i.e., is located outside of the existing blasting range, so that the strip edge is specifically blasted and dried.
