The invention relates to a conductive elastomer provided and formed from a base elastomer and conductive solid particles that are distributed therein. The conductive particles used are: a) platelet-shaped conductive particles and/or b) dendritic conductive particles and/or c) other elongated conductive particles with a length:width ratio of greater than or equal to two. It has been seen that a combination of ball-shaped and platelet-shaped conductive particles is particularly advantageous. The particles can additionally be aligned by the pouring, application using a doctor blade, or drawing of the dissolved or not-yet cured mixture. The polymer is particularly suitable for medical electrodes for capturing and emitting signals. The material rennulus elastic, and conductive when stretched or bent.

Conductive polymer material, use of same, and a method for the production of same

A material which is provided for use in direct contact with the skin of a user and which contains a percentage in silver that is finely dispersed in said material. The material is provided with a content in another metal that is finely dispersed in the material in addition to the silver content. The metals of the group including aluminum, magnesium, zinc, bronze, titanium and platinum are suitable either individually or in combination and in amounts between 0.1 and 1% by weight. The use of the metal particles is also suitable to conceal discolorations in a pigmented or dyed synthetic material when the material is used in air or on the skin. The metal particles do not impair the properties of the material. The material can be used to produce skin patches of any kind, especially for use in orthopedics.

Use of finely dispersed metal particles in a material, a skin patch and an orthopedic article

The invention relates to an orthopedic cushion made from a filled elastomer or softened thermoplastics and can be provided with a thin friction-reducing coating made from a non-polar, non-hydrophilic slip-increasing polymer coating namely poly(para-xylene). According to the invention, the above can be achieved by means of a method in which the polymerized polyurethane cushion is subjected to at least one pretreatment step in which volatile components are removed to such an extent as to be able to be immediately coated.

Orthopedic cushion and method for production thereof

A process is provided for casting a mounting which is attachable to a human body and which takes the form of a prosthesis socket or of an orthosis part. The mounting includes a reinforcement in the shape of a grid or frame located in the core region of the mounting and is surrounded by a lower polyurethane sublayer and a superposed polyurethane sublayer. The process includes a) providing a first spacer material to be soaked with a incompletely reacted polyurethane, b) producing a reinforcement thereon, c) removing the reinforcement, d) casting the lower polyurethane sublayer by saturating the first spacer material with the incompletely reacted polyurethane, e) superimposing the reinforcement on the polyurethane surface of the lower polyurethane, f) applying a second spacer material to be soaked with a partially reacted polyurethane and g) casting the superposed polyurethane sublayer by saturating the second spacer material with the incompletely reacted polyurethane. The first spacer material is positioned at the lower polyurethane sublayer. The second spacer material takes the form of the superposed polyurethane sublayer. The polyurethane sublayers come into contact and both sublayers bond reactively and enclose the reinforcement.

Process for making a molded valve housing for a prosthesis or an orthosis

A process for the production of moldings from a polymer alloy of multiphase morphology, in which the polymer alloy is prepared with the injection molding in one process step. For this, thermoplastically processable polymers which are incompatible or not very compatible with one another are introduced as granules, preferably having a particle size of greater than or equal to 3 mm, into the hopper of an injection molding machine and are subsequently plasticized, mixed thoroughly, and shaped in the injection molding machine; where at least one of the polymers employed is capable chemically, under the injection molding conditions, of association and/or copolymerization with at least one other of the participating polymers. The resulting polymer alloys are not inferior in their properties to corresponding conventionally produced alloys. The moldings are useful in orthopedics.

The invention relates to an orthopaedic clamped connection as a functional element for force transmission in a prosthesis, comprising a tube socket and a tube made of light metal. To increase the dynamic stressability, the contact area between tube socket and tube made of light metal is provided with an intermediate layer which is composed of a low molecular weight carrier material in which at least one lubricant and/or auxiliary is embedded.
