A surface milling or angular milling cutter, comprising a carrier body which circumferentially, at uniformly or non-uniformly spread spacings, has disposed pockets which extend in parallel with the axis of rotation of the carrier body for the accommodation of cassettes which, in turn, have seating surfaces for the accommodation of tool tips, a mounting device for the tool tips in the cassette, a bolt mounting to locate the cassettes in the pockets, and an adjusting pin for each cassette for a limited axial displacement of the cassettes in two directions in the pockets, characterized in that the radially outer portion of the cassette is divided by a gap extending approximately in the radial plane, and the gap receives a setting wedge the position of which can be adjusted by means of an adjusting screw in the gap.

Surface milling or angular milling cutter

A roll for a radial thread-forming head which has disposed at its circumference a thread-forming profile with a flattened area, a thread entry portion, a thread calibrating portion, and a thread exit portion, characterized in that an annular, continuous groove portion is formed in the longitudinal half of the roll in a radial plane at the circumference, except for the flattened area, and a thread-forming profile is formed in the two sides of the groove portion wherein the pitches of the thread-forming profiles are opposed and the positions of the flattened areas are coincident.

Roll for a radial thread-rolling head

An indexable insert milling tool with a milling body which on the circumference comprises distanced chip spaces, in which insert seats for indexable cutting inserts are formed, and with fastening screws which can be screwed into a threaded bore in the insert seat for fastening the indexable inserts via a middle hole, wherein the insert seat comprises a first bearing surface extending roughly perpendicular to the threaded bore, against which the rear side of the indexable inserts bear and a second bearing surface on the inner side of the chip spaces, against which the indexable inserts laterally bear. The indexable insert on the rear side on the cutting edge sides comprise raised elongate support sections wedge-shaped in cross section with lower parallel distanced elongate support surfaces. Bordering the second bearing surface in the insert seat there are formed recesses whose axes run approximately parallel to the second bearing surface and which in cross section are formed complementarily to the cross section of the support sections. The one support section is accommodated in the recess with an approximately positive fit and the indexable insert on tightening the fastening screw on account of the wedging effect is pressed against the second bearing surface, whilst the support surface of the other support section bears on a radial outer section of the first bearing surface.

Indexable milling insert

The invention relates to a tangential thread rolling head with two fork-shaped rolling head arms in which thread rollers are rotatably mounted by way of parallel axles. The thread rollers are in engagement with a pinion, sitting on the axles, of a gear coupling both thread rollers, and the thread rollers and pinion are formed such that the rollers are laterally insertable before installing the axles. There is also a rolling head holder on which the rolling head arms are pivotably mountable about a common axle running parallel to the roller axles, threaded means for adjusting the distance of the thread roller axles from one another and adjusting means for the pivotal position of the rolling head to the rolling head holder. Cooperating claws of the thread roller and pinion are formed such that the roller may only be laterally inserted in a single defined rotational position.

Tangential rolling head

Axial thread rolling head which comprises a bearing unit including the thread rollers and rotatably supporting said thread rollers by means of eccentric shafts, an axial shank being axially movable with respect to said bearing unit and, in a first axial relative position, cooperating with a claw clutch portion of said bearing unit by means of a claw clutch portion to connect both portions so as to be resistant to torsional strength, a first gear between said shank and said eccentric shafts, a helical spring between said shank and said bearing unit being so provided that in a second axial relative position, in which said claw clutch portions are out of mesh, said helical spring, on the occasion of a displacement of said bearing unit into a first direction of rotation with respect to said shank, is tensioned or, respectively, said tensioned helical spring displaces said bearing unit into the second direction of rotation relative to said shank, spring means which tension said shank and said bearing unit into the first relative position towards each other, and mechanical switching means which, when getting into touch with a workpiece, cause said shank and said bearing unit to move into the second relative position, a power operated drive being arranged on said shank and connected to said bearing unit (LE) via a second gear for displacing said bearing unit into the first direction of rotation by a preset angle of rotation, with said shank and said bearing unit (LE) being in the second axial relative position.

Axial thread rolling head

A peripheral indexable cutting insert for mounting to a tool holder under an axial mounting angle (a) other than zero. The insert is formed from a sintered body having a longitudinal central axis and a generally trapezoid cross-section and has a substantially planar mounting face, a substantially planar front face opposite said mounting face and opposing side faces formed therebetween. At least a pair of opposite cutting edges having diagonally opposed leading and trailing ends are formed on the insert. Each cutting edge is formed at the intersection of a chip surface with an adjacent clearance surface. Each chip surface is formed on the front face adjacent a side face, and each clearance surface is formed on a side face adjacent the front face. The chip surfaces are formed by respective linear grooves shaped in the front face. Each groove extends under an acute angle (b) opening from the leading towards the training end of its associated cutting edge with respect to the longitudinal central axis of the body and each groove has a depth continuously increasing from the trailing towards the leading end of its associated cutting edge and is provided with a substantially constant cross-sectional radius of curvature throughout its length. The angle of each chip surface permanently changes from the trailing end towards the leading end, so that, when mounted to a holder under a predetermined axial mounting angle (a), the effective chip angle with respect to a workpiece from the leading towards the trailing end is substantially constant.
