A transfer case includes a two-speed range unit, a friction clutch, a power-operated actuation mechanism and a control system. The actuation mechanism includes an electric motor, a geartrain driven by the motor for controlling rotation of an actuator shaft, a range actuator assembly and a mode actuator assembly. The range actuator assembly functions to move a shift collar associated with the range unit in response to rotation of the actuator shaft. The mode actuator assembly includes a mode cam and a ballramp unit. The mode cam is rotatively driven by the actuator shaft for controlling the clutch engagement force exerted on the friction clutch by the ballramp unit.

Two-speed transfer case with adaptive torque transfer clutch

An all-wheel transmission system includes an input shaft, a first output shaft and two mutually independently controllable friction clutches for the metering the transfer of drive torque from a powertrain to a first axle assembly and a second axle assembly. The first friction clutch includes a first clutch component rotationally connected to an input shaft and of a second clutch component rotationally connected to a first output shaft while the second friction clutch includes a first clutch component rotationally connected to the input shaft and a second clutch component rotationally connected to a second output shaft. One of the friction clutches can be selectively bridged via coordinate actuation of a bridging clutch.

All-wheel transmission system

A differential transmission comprises a differential casing ( ) driven by an input shaft and having compensating gears ( ) mounted therein, and in each case having an output gear ( ) to drive a first and a second output shaft ( ), it being possible for the differential casing to be connected to one of the output shafts ( ) via a friction clutch ( ) by pressure being applied to a pressure plate ( ). Differential gearbox with locking coupling and distributor gearbox for motor vehicles equipped therewith

A two-stage power-split gear unit for automobiles consists of an input shaft (,), of a planetary gear unit as an off-road gear stage, of a differential gear unit, of a first output shaft (,) and of a second output shaft (,) which is connected to an offset output (,), the input shaft (,) being capable of being coupled selectively to the sun wheel (,) and to the planet carrier (,) of the planetary gear unit, the planet wheels (,) of which roll in a ring gear (,) fixed in space, and the differential gear unit having compensating wheels (,) and first and second output wheels (,) driven by these and in each case located on the first and the second output shafts (,). In order to arrange the output wheel (,) for the front axle as far forward as possible and to save space, the compensating wheels (,) are mounted on the planet carrier (,) of the planetary gear unit of the off-road gear stage, and the first output wheel (,) is arranged in front of the planetary gear unit (,) of the off-road gear stage and the second output wheel (,) is arranged behind said planetary gear unit.

Two-stage transfer gear-box

The invention so-called torque transfer case in the housing of which there are provided a torque input shaft and, mounted at a level below, a differential gear with propeller shafts extending from opposite sides thereof in parallel relationship with the torque input shaft, the torque input shaft being drivingly connected to the differential gear assembly by a range transmission box, such as a planetary gear set, and a drive train, the drive train being connected to a sun gear of the planetary gear train, the carrier of which is connected to a differential case. A ring gear meshing with planet gears may be selectively moved into engagement with the housing or the planet carrier to shift the torque transfer case between road and range gear modes.

Automotive transmission apparatus

A differential transmission incorporating a range gear box in the housing of which a first output shaft as well as a second output shaft disposed coaxially therewith are driven by an input shaft. To reduce the number of structural components, cost, size and weight, and to obtain optimum and easily variable ratios of gear diameters, the transmission is provided with a single planetary gear train the ring gear of which is drivingly connected to an input shaft. The planet carrier is drivingly connected to a first output shaft and is provided with pairs of meshing planet gears, one gear of each pair meshing with a sun gear which is selectively connectible with the planet carrier and/or a second output shaft, and with a second ring gear which is surrounding all the gears meshing with the sun gear and which is connectible with the housing.
